Can normal combos have scripts attached to them?

I don't think any of the nicer pit scripts are publicly available, so you'd have to use Mero's. For your own custom combos, the process generally goes like this in a global active script:

1. check ID, type, or flag of combo Link is standing on (Link->X and Y + 8, or even several different points on Link's sprite)
2. if ID/type/flag is equal to your special combo type, do a thing

A lot of what you want to do is pretty involved, and a "see what Link is standing on" check is probably the least complicated part.
