Normally, Link isn't able to move at all when there are strings on screen. Though, I hope it's possible to allow Link to move around on the screen while also having strings play at the same time. It's kind of like having the "Messages Freeze All Action" rule unchecked, but instead of still having Link frozen in time, Link is able to move.

I hope this is enough information, and if it isn't, I'd be glad to clear up anything.

There's very little that can be done with built-in strings. Either they freeze all action, in which case scripts can't really do anything (except the global script, and that's... probably not the route you want to go here) or they don't, in which case you have to freeze all the action you want to freeze yourself (which would likely freeze all ffc scripts and stuff, again leaving the global as your way to move forward).

Just to make sure I fully understand here, what exactly do you want happening here? Messages freeze all actions except Link, who can still move of his own volition?

I basically want it to be possible for Link to move around while the text strings play in the background. This shouldn't freeze anything on screen, as the text string would be something on the side. The best way to think about it would be how normal games with speaking characters work: They talk while still allowing the character to interact with the area around them. Only, in ZC, it'd mean that the text strings would be playing while Link is free to interact with anything on screen (instead of being frozen in place). So, this means that any enemies or ffcs should also be free to move around, instead of Link being the only thing allowed to move on screen.

And you only want this to happen with certain strings, I assume? Like, being able to check messages freeze all action for some but not for others?

If I'm understanding correctly, the answer is Tango. That's the only way to have it freeze or not freeze in a string dependent fashion, short of outrageously stupid jank you don't want to get into.

Yeah, only for some strings. But, uh, I'm not so sure on how to use Tango. I remember touching it a few times a long time ago, but never did I truly understand it. I assume you (or others who know Tango) will help me through the set-up (that is, if the script is ever made).

Yeah, I can help with that. Tango's biggest problem is that initial setup isn't the easiest. Once it's set up, it's a breeze to work with.

Cool, thanks a lot for the help!
