I thought I'd just get out how far things have progressed at this point.

Q744 is a very LTTP-like quest. It is not intended to be a remake, demake, or anything; just a fun quest with a Link to the Past feel to it. If that's how it ends up being, then I've succeeded. There are obviously limits to what ZC can do, but through lots of scripting, by myself and by other people (whom I will be putting in the credits) I have gotten somewhat close.

The final quest will contain two main overworlds, 12 main dungeons, possibly a couple minidungeons, and an optional dungeon to get an overpowered item. There really isn't any story and there will be no cutscenes. The first three levels contain pendants required to access the Master Sword. The remaining dungeons will have Triforce fragments.

This screenshot is a little older, but is fairly representative of

how much like LTTP this quest should feel!

I have been planning my dungeons out on graph paper before implementing them. I am attempting to use the same inherent design methodology that made LTTP great, but adding my own twist to it as well. There should be at least one very familiar room to hopefully invoke a feeling of nostalgia in every dungeon. I am endeavoring to make the dungeons feel unique, with very few rooms that feel the same.

In addition, items are all being tweaked to act or at least feel as close as possible to the LTTP versions. The swords have accurate sounds and sword beams, the boomerang has a more limited range, there are three potions with their own effects, etc.

I am arranging a soundtrack for the quest. Apologies to those on slow connections, but this quest will only have default MIDIs assigned (for the most part) otherwise.

Currently the quest is about half done. Five levels, most of the overworlds, a minidungeon, several secrets, some caves, and a couple side areas are currently complete. Scripting includes several LTTP-style enemies, falling down pits, jumping down from ledges, a scripted item, and enhanced dark rooms, among other things.

The quest is being rather extensively tested, which has helped me fine-tune design and balance so far. Don't underestimate how valuable it can be to have someone else play your quest in a video!

The final quest release will also have a version with diagonal movement turned off in case you don't like having it on.
