With the Wii (and Wii U) Shop going offline in about a year, I thought it'd be nice to share some recommendations for titles worth getting.

I'm mostly interested in good Wii Ware, since most Virtual Console stuff is available elsewhere, except for some imports and arcade titles possibly (or older/rare consoles).

To start things off Mega Man 9 and 10 were both excellent, and while a bit limited, I found Castlevania: Rebirth to be worth the price.

I'm not aware of a lot of titles, but I am thinking about Wario Land: Shake It, Contra: Rebirth... there's probably more, but I really ought to pull up a list and look it over. Any great titles you've played on WiiWare etc. that you'd recommend?

As far as I know, Contra and Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth are only on Wii Shop. So it might be prudent to snag those now before it's too late, because I don't know what the odds are Konami bothers to release them on new platforms after this. Also, other than the dubbed port that's unlockable in The Dracula X Chronicles for PSP, it's the only way to legally play the original version of Rondo of Blood.

Oh yeah. I do have Rondo of Blood, that's worth playing. I also recommend the Wii VC version of Super Mario Bros. 2 Japan, not that it's for everyone, but it's the only US release of the original version- the SNES and GBC versions are different graphically, or in screen dimension.

There's only about four more days left to add points to the Wii Shop Channel. I still need to buy Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth. Anyone else have any suggestions before it's too late?

This video might also be of some use:

It's been a great 11 years, Wii.

I can't really think of any other titles, as any of the ones I would suggest are already on other things now, or will be (Megaman 9, and 10, and Shantea Risky's Revenge nevermind that was a DS game.)

Alright, I've made my final Wii Shop purchases:

- Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth, because it's the only place to get this game and I want to be able to play all the Classicvania titles.

- Jett Rocket, which AntDude said was a competent 3D platformer and I figure it's worth a shot.

- A Link to the Past, because I never owned the Wii version of it and I more or less refuse to not have it on a system that can play the game.

- Final Fantasy VI, because it's time to finally play this game. Sometime.

- And last but not least, Cozy Fire, because it's a meme and why not have one piece of shovelware on my system?

It's been a good run, Wii. I even asked it "Ready for one last adventure?" when I pulled it from its box to set it back up, as I hadn't yet after moving in December.

to my knowledge, actually only the Wii shop channel goes offline next year. Wii U's eshop will be unaffected.

Tomorrow is the last day to add points to the former.
