Anyone play this ancient quest recently?  I cant figure out how to get in what I presume is Level 2 in the Lost Woods, or the tree cave protected by two stone blocks

Anyone play this ancient quest recently?  I cant figure out how to get in what I presume is Level 2 in the Lost Woods, or the tree cave protected by two stone blocks

 

Post screenshots of the areas that are giving you issues.

 

If it's the screen I'm thinking about, the two blocks are push-wait, so they only require killing every enemy on the screen.

Couldnt get into my Photobucket acct until this morning!  Anyway, I tried what you said: killed the moblin and all three armoses, but that didnt help

If I remember correctly there is a different way to get to level 2 through a hidden path under a bush.  I think I did something visually to clue you in on where to look.  Those blocks help you leave level 2 easier without having to go back through the cave you need to take to get there.

Well, what I thought it as, it wasnt.....  There's a screen in the forest w. two offset bushes, but neither of them reveal anything when I burn them

 

I dont see anything else "obvious" anywhere.....

You were close.  The cave you are looking for is just a couple screens away.  See the picture here.

Did you find the boomerang?  You will need it to reach level 2.

I'm through Level 3, and have found Level 4, the power bracelet, and the white sword.  Seems to me that by now, I should have the blue ring, or at the very least, the magic shield, but I havent been able to find a shop that sells one

 

Am I missing something?

The blue ring might be hidden somewhere in level 4.  I may have to play through the quest more to be sure but that's what I am recalling as of now.

Now where do I go for Level 5??

Did you find the dark world yet?  If not head to the lower left area of the woods.  Once you make it to the dark world you will eventually find level 5.

No, and I'm assuming I need to superbomb that thing in the lower left, since nothing I have opens it:

 

- Bow and arrow

- Magic boomerang

- Regular bombs

- White sword

- Red candle

- Power bracelet

 

Off to buy a superbomb, and see if that does it

It may just be something you stab with the white sword honestly.
