Build the world you want, while the world outside falls apart.

I've really been enjoying this new installment so far. The customizability of everything really opens up a whole new level of Animal Crossing. Built a park that looks lit, fam. The neighbors seem to have more individuality and I love how much you can do with DIY.

I've been playing a lot of online, so if anyone wants to visit or wants a visitor, hit me up with your friend code.  :slycool:  I've got all the fruit!

Here's a scuffed walkthrough of my current town, uploaded to Twitter because the Switch presents no better alternatives :P

I told myself I wouldn't get sucked in, but somehow I did anyway. The game's quite nice. I have some annoyances with features like the Nook miles, but on the whole it's just relaxing fun at a time when I really need it. My roommate and I are slowly developing our town, but it's nowhere near as advanced as something like Matthew's. I've been doing a lot of fishing.

And of course I had to do some custom clothing ...

Thought I'd try doing it with no guides or anything this time. It's going well, as far as I know. Surprisingly hard to figure out what styles clothing items are, let alone what each villager likes. If Label ever shows up, I'm not going to be ready for her. :P

Really need more furniture. Making the most of what I've got, though. Also, I'm a girl this time, because why not.

Loaded up Wild World again the other day, just for the heck of it. Amazing how primitive it feels now. How did we ever put up with a fifteen-item inventory with no stacking?

I haven't played an Animal Crossing game since the GameCube original. I've been wondering if it would be worth trying the series again, though since I don't have a Switch I'd be going with New Leaf instead. I remember when I played the original, my daily routine essentially boiled down to raiding the Lost & Found and the Dump for new items to keep/sell, picking weeds, digging the buried spots, and looking for the day's money rock. Villagers didn't really do anything worth interacting with them. I'd only ever get fetch jobs and only get things like paper for doing them. Is there enough new stuff to make it worth starting New Leaf?

There's a lot more stuff, but it's fundamentally not that different. You can customize your house and village a lot more, but you'll still be selling fish, bugs, and fruit to pay for it all. The day-to-day routine is still pretty simple; the bigger stuff is more long-term.

I got this for my kids, and then I started playing at night. I found out that you can force spawn 10k bell fish on island visits and just sit and fish while my wife watches trash tv. It's great. My daughters made everything pink and there are flowers literally covering all surfaces of the island.
