Alright, I made a thread about this a year back since the history page (which is now broken) said there was a 0.64. I decided to look on the wayback machine for some archived links on ZC.com, and I even found some for Armageddon Games! As it does say on the development page, there was a 0.94, but it might not exist anymore. I have some links here, but I need YOUR help for this version.

LINKS

https://web.archive....ddongames.com/*

https://web.archive....daclassic.com/*

https://web.archive....ddongames.com/*

https://web.archive....ongames.com:80/

Remember to always hit the 'from' tab so you can get the oldest links. The zeldaclassic.armageddongames.com link is the very original, but the archives go as far back as 2000. We just need to find a version before 1.0, but it will not be easy. PLEASE, help me in my quest to find the oldest version! It is extremely important we have an archive of this, since the 20th anniversary is coming!

As far as I know, 1.0 was the first publicly released version. Everything before that was just internal, meaning there's likely no download link or record of it anywhere on the internet.

Well, the problem with that is that Phantom Menace did state that 0.94 was the most up to date version on the forums, meaning it was released.

This issue is caused by a simple fact: People used to overwrite the older versions (pre 1.01) with the latest, and versions under 0.9 were private. Of the three people that might/would have had them, one wants to be left-alone, one is too busy to go hunting, and this third verified that he did not have them.

It's possible that some of the stuff is still floating around the AGN server in old directories that have been relocated. I haven't validated that yet. I used to have an ftp login for that, but IDR if it allowed me to walk down to root and to look around, or not.

I would rather have the source files for 1.xx, and any earlier cource, inclluding the original C-- stuff, than the bins. That is far more useful than the old binaries, as it would both allow building those versoons (old bins not needed), and it would allow fully-accurate emulation of each version in the current builds, rather than the current guesswork kludges.

The source for 1.00 or 1.02, and for 1.60 IIRC, are on Github. We have large gaps between those, before them, and between them and 1.93 (2.10). In fact, we lack difinitive 1.93->2.10 changes, as IIRC, there were only preserved copies of the release version code of 2.10, 2.10.1, 2.10.2, and something marked 2.10.3 that seems to be a mangled mess.
