I tried it, but I don't like my water/mountain transition tiles. For comparision:

It'd probably look better if the water actually overlayed on the mountain tiles a little to make it looks like they're going underneath?

Though that'd be pretty hard to pull off I'd imagine and it still looks really nice either way.

I'm trying hard to see this, but I really can't. I just see rocks :P

It's not pixel for pixel, but look at Nayru's back sprite. When I played it on an actual gb, it was more noticeable. :P

din-nayru.png

"Why are Nayru's sisters underwater?" I'd ask myself.

NewJourneysFire

I can't tell what's going on. It's pretty though.

I must have unconsciously embraced SkyLizardGirl's design style. Charming but in a slightly nonsensical kinda way.

This world actually makes more sense when you actually play it or see it in video, that's if you've already been introduced to TRIFORCE's style from either my earlier submitted images or by playing LQftH2's update which is inspired by TRIFORCE.

Also, this overworld style has mixed reception anyways. Some people love it, other people can't even tell what's going on and think the whole thing is a total mess. It's a very "experimental" design approach, but it has fans since both Moosh and Lunaria has adopted the approach in their own ways.

Wow, that's a lot of shots! I didn't vote since I'm in this one (and mine is something of a throwaway shot). So, here's my thoughts on the others.

Naru- Pretty good shot. I like the wooden palisades.

nicklegends- An animated GB shot. Reminds me of the raft maze from Link's Awakening.

NewJourneysFire- The palette on this one just ruins it for me.

Polaris- A fairly decent shot. Nothing bad, but nothing outstanding.

Joelmacool- Is it a coincidence that the subscreen shows 600? Fairly normal shot.

RedTribeLink- Looks like a cross between tileset styles. It'd be interesting to know if those Magnetic blocks actually work.

Aslion- Another decent one, but also not my favorite.

Migokalle- I'd say this is the undisputed winner of this week's contest. This shot screams quality to me. What tileset is this?

Sheik- I like the layout of this area. Other than that, nothing stands out.

GrantGreif- Um... what am I seeing here?

Orithan- The more I see of this quest, the more I want to start playing it.

Alestance- For some reason, the mountain transition to the right of Link seems a bit off to me.

Lüt- A nice, warm; welcoming fire dungeon.

Eddy- I like this shot, but I really; really wish this was ready to play.

A wide variety of excellent shots from all involved!

Soon enough you'll play it. Assuming I'll actually be bothered to finish this :P

I would've voted for Pepe if he had a ten gallon hat. (Wot'n ZCNation!)

Very nice shot, Robin! Nice to see the tileset being used.

Personally I think this one looks a little better. The real problem I think is that the water doesn't look like the right scale next to everything else, though.

I like the sense of vertical height in Naru's screen, usually things aren't tall and/or don't overlap, which makes everything look low to the ground and flat. Nicklegends screen stole my vote because it has such a fantastic sense of 3 dimensional depth especially with the contrast between the vivid colors, and the way the cool shadows fall back into the distance, the screen is so alive with potential routes and action. I'm not big on Aslion's palette, but the environment looks imaginative. Migokalle's TP vibes are strong and create a great sense of adventure and scale. I love the water detail and overall colors in Sheik's screen.

I think this could work well if the water under the mountain tiles (along the shoreline) was a darker blue, hinting that the mountain walls extend beneath the water.

You guys are way too kind! This lineup is amazing! I want to write a comment for each one but I don't have time right now, and I'm going to be gone for a few days (fittingly I'm coming home just in time for the midnight launch of the Switch), but I'll try to get that done sometime after I've played a bit of Zelda. :P

@Sheik How about moving the waterfall up one tile? Quick, dirty example:

Thank you!! This is the Firebird-tileset. It's more or less a "complete" tileset, though you may find it lacking in a few aspects. It's no longer being actively worked on, though I do know there are somebody who is working on something that might help fill in some of those parts. Big emphasis on might at this point, I do not feel like I'm in a position to promise anything right now. Stay tuned, I guess. ;)
