The long awaited sequel is finally released! Time to grab your whips and explore, solve some brain teasing puzzles, escape death traps, and fight ancient monsters!

Been eyeing this one recently. I loved the first game and this looks like more of the same in a good way. Now the age old question of Steam: Do I break the bank now or wait for a sale...

Never played la-mulana actually but puzzles? Death traps? Metroidvania? Looks fun!

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I would go as far to say I hated the first game. >.>

It just wasn't for me. Glad people who liked it though are getting a sequel. I feel like 'indie games' don't really get sequels too often.

Speaking of the first one, it's on sale on Steam right now for literally $5.  Grab it while you can!

Actually this game looks bad. Don't like the graphics and the jump physics and air movement seems stiff.

Deceased Crab, semi-well-known for doing Let's Play videos of the original game (and it's remake) about a decade ago, is currently doing this one. Huzzah!

The thing you've got to realize about La Mulana is, the first game (which was independently made by basically one guy, kind of like Cave Story; though of the two I do find Cave Story a lot more fun) was originally designed to be pretty retro and simplistic, heavily inspired by Knightmare II: The Maze of Galious and stuff like that.

Then the bosses and the nature of traps got kind of complicated, then the player got slightly more abilities (I believe wall-jumping is in the game later), and then there was a big fancy remake with much more elaborate graphics, and then this sequel. So this game starts kind of small and referential and probably gets more complicated (and more insanely difficult, if the first is anything to go by) later on. But it's still kind of deliberately minimalist and old-fashioned on some level.

I haven't played the new one at all, and I didn't get far on my own with the original, but, they are interesting.
