Well, I was testing stuff with Version 254.
Anyway.
At the beggining, no dialogue appeared
No text, no string.
I DID SET THE STRING AND THE GUY
But nothing appears.
It's even on NES Dungeon. (and the thing next to it is 255)
so, why aren't there any text?
Messages won't appear...

try giving the dmap a level number.

your using 254 right? Go to dmap editor then go to flags and uncheck the rule "special rooms and guys are in caves only " And that will fix your problem!
(I suggest awhile back that this tid bit of info be added to the pinned topic on strings but it never happened)
