Several weeks ago, my mom and my sister found a mother Killdeer and her nest in the middle of our front yard. The mother killdeer had four eggs. Sadly, just one week ago, something got into her nest and took all but two of the eggs. The mother killdeer had disappeared. My mom and my sister decided to take the remaining eggs to the hen house in my backyard. On Monday, July 16th, Boots, the hen who sat on the eggs became a mother again for the third time.
A little baby killdeer. My brother-in-law took those pictures earlier this evening.
Strange? I know. Last year, she sat on two duck eggs and they hatched as well!
I'm so happy for Boots.

Well, all though it sounds a little bit weird, I'm glad you got a new pet bird. It's so amazing that your hen can hatch the eggs of other species of birds.

cool...
I have Killdeer's out in my field, they follow me around when I get out there and mow.
I haven't run over any nests yet, for those of you who were about to freak.
Cool birds

Pretty thing!
Nature breaks way for herself. I like birds, especially these little ones. It's so good that you have one. Boots is a real heroine!
Whatever stole the eggs earlier, surely needed them for food, which is normal. But since it left some, it caused a good situation: the creature filled its stomach and you got a new pet bird.
Nature wins again, Civilisation is pwnd.
