"The Legend of Zelda Cartoon Series" and "Who here is rich? Share your story" were great classic James24 threads, but with "ZC's existential problem," the thread creator was obviously not thinking straight.

James jumped the shark here, IMO. You can see him slacking and starting to run out of ideas by "Who pays for the translation?", and here he's resorting to cheap hackneyed attempts at emotional manipulation. Terrible. He's lost his artistic touch

This is among one of the reasons I don't think I'm cut out for the permanent ZC head job forever: I'm out of touch. I can straighten this issue out, but at the end, I want to retire back to FGC, streaming, and move to something new. I could still advise as Council though.

You're not that out of touch, Nightmare. You're definitely older than most of the userbase these days, but you at least seem to understand the direction ZC needs to head and the formation of the Council and ZCO has brought a lot of stability to the community.

 

I know James24's assessment of the situation sounds grim - but frankly, he's the one that's out of touch here, not you. There's not as huge of a divide between young and old as he seems to think there is, the state of ZC for non-scripters is improving rapidly as we speak with Emily and Dimi at the helm, peoples tastes in quests are broadening, and the community is more united lately than it was a few years ago. I don't think things are nearly as doomy as James24 is making them out to be. (And honestly - even if things weren't going great, why give up? We didn't give up when 2.5's development cycle was in a quagmire. Why is it worth giving up now?)

Maybe more broadly the Council could use a younger member or two on it - ideally it'd represent all the generations of people using ZC, young, old, and middle - but I think it's been a hugely positive thing for the community despite the occasional hiccup.

That said, if you wanted someone else to be head of Council on a more permanent basis, I respect that. Just know that you've done good work and that your leadership is not at fault for anything here.

You really shouldn't take anything James24 says as a reflection of anything this community thinks, or anything in reality for that matter. James24 exists in a weird bubble where he thinks that a fangame tool is an engine of economic creation, and constantly shitposts a bunch of nonsense scenarios based off of this absurd conceit. There are plenty of reasons why I think you are right for stepping down when the Zoria dust settles, but not being on the same page as James24 is not one of those reasons.
