https://lordcronic.t...stdb/index.html I thought this was pretty interesting, at least some of the links still seem to work.

Right on!!!  This is very nostalgic for sure.  I am sure I will come across some quests that I've forgotten.  Now if only we were able to strip any old password protected quests, it would be awesome.  This definitely will take all of us ZC communities back to our roots long before scripting came about.  I remember playing forever darkness by Hymaster if I recall correctly.  The overworld was colorless dark gray and was interesting. I hope someone has that quest lying around.

This is cool. I think a lot of these aren't currently on Pure's or AGN's databases. I got really excited when I saw A Link to Another Dimension under NewFirst quests though. I thought it might be a different long lost quest/ demo that I remember called something like "Lost Dimension" or maybe "Last Dimension". I don't think the quest I'm thinking of was ever finished, but I seem to remember a demo from 2001 or 2002. Might be lost media now. :thinkdorm:

Are you sure it was called,   Forever Darkness by Hymaster ?  Or was it Quest of Darkness??

I was just looking online, just now, ....

i can't find this ZC creator anywhere or the name of that quest online.

I could've swore it was "Forever" darkness.  It was either HyMaster or HiMaster for what I can remember.

7.And last but not least!
One of the neatest things you can do for your quest is make a map! well I have just the tool for you to use. It's called mapmaker and was designed by Fatcatfan to extract all the info from your quest and then generate a fully detailed easy to use map which is great for adding a walkthrough or just examining your creation

I guess this was before ZQ added the "View Map..." option.

The external tile maker is blowing my mind.  Was that really not a feature?

I just remembered a very early version of ZC, I don't think enemies where functioning yet, and you could switch between classic and BS tiles by pressing a button (I think it was f6?). This was probably over two decades ago....

1.90 had a tile editor, but it was limited in a lot of ways (I don't think you could horizontally/vertically flip tiles in the editor yet), there was no way to preview tiles in the sprite palettes, and of course, if you wanted to use 1.90's tile editor you had to open ZC in DOS mode, meaning you couldn't multitask.  Being able to export maps as images, on the other hand, wasn't a native ZC feature until 2.5.

It's crazy to think how much PureZC modernized the ZC scene.  The only quest databases that existed before PureZC were like AZC, using static HTML that had to be updated by hand, and quest databases that were just modded versions of UBB (you can see AGN's original Quest Database on the Wayback Machine).  I'm pretty sure Wild Bill was the first person to write software in PHP/MySQL specifically for a ZC quest database.
