They're doing it guys.  They're bringing one of the best racing games made to modern times!

Crash Team Racing:  Nitro Fueled is an HD remake of Crash Team Racing on the PS1, which was one of the best selling games on the console.  How will it fare?  Stay tooned.

I'm approaching this the same way as the original Crash trilogy: Never played it before, willing to try it with this remake. The N. Sane Trilogy was a really good remake so I have faith jumping in on this will be worthwhile.

I wish they'd decided to go with a new game rather than a remake. They've already got the nostalgia juices with the remakes, so a remake of the kart racer is unnecessary. They could've used modern technology to do something new and creative with the track design too, but we get stuck with PS1 tracks instead.

I'm fine with it, though I hope they do Crash Bash also.  The thing about these games is that they're great, but they don't have Wifi, so multiplayer is near impossible.  Remaking them not just with better graphics, but modern functional things like WiFi support is more than welcome.

Doubt they'll do Crash Bash because that's considered by a lot of people as a mediocre party game.

And i'm going to agree with going for a new game instead of just remaking the original. Seriously, it's just remakes nowadays and it's starting to get really tiring. Medievil is another PS1 game that is getting a remake, same for Resident Evil 2 and just recently with the Spyro games.

It feels like i'm on Groundhog Day. Instead of getting new experiences with brand new games, we are just getting more and more remakes of stuff people already played. I don't mind a remake here and there, but this is getting out of hand.

I'm for the remakes, the games are still great fun and not everyone has a PS1, PS2 or PS3 console or an American Playstation Store account laying about to play the originals (aussie playstation store is missing a bunch of legacy games & games in general).

Of course there's emulation but that's kinda illegal/gray area and not everyone will be willing to set that up even if they're interested in the games. You have to get a BIOS and for PS1 games you'll be dealing with a lot of plugins & settings (just like you do with N64 emulation), PS2 emulation on the other hand is in a pretty good spot but again you need a BIOS to get started.

This also.

I can understand people not wanting to buy the same games again, better engines/graphics or not, which is fair.  To say they shouldn't happen at all though is rather selfish, considering that not everyone had the chance to experience them when they were new and/or CAN experience them in their original form.  As long as the remakes are actually quality, I welcome any of them.

Not that this game is one of them, but there are also several games that exist that have aged poorly and benefit greatly from a modern remake, like the gen 1 Pokemon games.  Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen were perfect remakes and basically replace the originals; they are the definitive quality Kanto experience, and are easy to recommend to modern Pokemon fans who haven't experienced the Kanto story.
