16x16 Minish Cap Link sprites (and NPCs eventually)

I'm making a new 16x16 link based of the Four Swords/Minish Cap link.

Takes inspiration (and will likely use a few sprites) from these two sets of link tiles:

I am also still working on my set of 16x16 and 32x16 Minish Cap styled NPC sprites. Hopefully once I finish this Link set, it becomes the new standard for Link sprites in DoR/MC styled quests, along with my NPCs.

Thoughts?

I'd love to see more NPC's :3
The new Link also sounds pretty neat :D

Even tho I am trying to get a female Link QQ

I'd say it'd probably be best to make it work for Z3 animation.  Even though you're scaling him down, 8 frames is still very much doable in 16x16.  Also, how about adding an alternate appearance to him

But then you got enemies, who use only 4 tile animations. It'd would kinda looks screwy. :sorry: I agree with the alternative palettes though.

 

Hm... is there meant to be an image? I can't really see it. But the idea sounds nice. :)

Is their a way to change the tile animation on enemy's to match it then?

Those look really great, Bourkey! Like Koh said, a Z3 animation would look wonderful. But either way works. Bravo. Can't wait for more!

That... Looks pretty amazing.  I'm not fond of the arms quite as much, but as far as it goes, dayumn.  Finish those up.

The arms are meant to use an even lighter shade of green, not white, which may be why they look a bit funny. It's due to a palette limitation (I used the palette from Dart Zaiders Minish Cap Link Advance). I'm going to re-do it in my own palette and also make a version that utilises 256 colour mode, so shield tiles can be used by sprite palettes, much like in The Minish Cap.

I might look into having alternate colours for the link, but this is first and foremost a Link based off The Minish Cap, so the first version will use those styled colours.

If anybody could link me to a 16x16 set of Link sprites that use Z3 animation (has to be ZC friendly) that would be great, just so I know what frames I need to make.

Updated with Up and East facing sprites. Credit goes to Warlock and his FS Link, from which I based the Up and East/West facing sprites off. I will look into making Z3 animation for it, from what I gather I would just have to make another two frames for each direction then loop them twice.

Now it looks too similar to that shrunken down MC Link. Uninterested. I thought it was going to be much better.

Well I did state in my first post that it is going to be based of the MC/FS Link and that I would base it off both those Link sprite sets. It's fine if you have no interest in them, I'm not making these to make you happy, I'm making them because they're something I want. If you don't offer any critique or constructive criticism other than the little you gave, then I won't be very willing to change them.

Here's an example of some 16x16 NPC, based of various characters in the Zelda series. I didn't 100% make the Vatti sprite; it's based off another persons 16x16 sprite, but I can't remember the creator though so if anyone knows that will be great.
