Basically: Link needs to be on the ground for the screen to allow a screen transition (and trying to move into the edges is treated as solid). This would accurately replicate the GB Zelda behaviour when using the Roc's feather. Obviously this would not affect sideview gravity screens, because that would break one of the main features of those.

Furthermore: It would make it a lot easier for quest designers to include the Roc items in their quests because they are somewhat exploitable for getting out of bounds or trigger otherwise bad screen transitions. For example: making a jump and screen transitioning over water without the flippers is currently somewhat bad behaviour and puts the player in a somewhat buggy state, this is generally not allowed in Link's Awakening.

I approve of this. The reason I haven't used Roc's Feather in any of my quests in years is precisely because of the high game-breaking factor.

I have the Roc's Feather in my quest and designing around it's game breaking-ness is becoming so annoying, it actively discourages quest makers from using it

Will this be added to 2.53.1 too, or just for 2.55?

It'll be 2.55 only, cuz 2.53 is out of quest rules. Adding another would change the quest file format and break 2.50 compatibility.

^Aye, what Russ said. 2.53.1 is also closed to new (non-critical) features, as it's nearing release; so don't expect any more feature requests to be added to 2.53.1.

Aight, cool. I was hoping this feature would trickle to the stable builds faster, but it can't be helped then. :P

Oh, you made it a rule, rather than an item flag? I suppose that's fine, as scripted jumping might require that.

Aye, it would. It would have been very difficult to tie it to an item flag, compared to 8 lines of code to tie it to a QR.

It also tends to make *sense* as a QR, as it definitely seems like an engine-mechanics thing, not a thing particularly related to the item.
