Map of the Year 2020: Bokoblin Bracket

3. Ambient Silence (MotM 119)

Ambient "hi wanna collab" Silence presents: One Screen Gollab

2. Evan20000 (MotM 118)

What's wrong with this dungeon's floors? May be slightly more complex than it appears!

11. Rekiron (MotM 127)

My final dungeon for Go Gollab. I really enjoyed how it plays, feels and looks.

5. MarinaraSauce (MotM 121)

First completed area for this quest, the Lost Woods.

Ambient Silence 119 -
While this was not hard to rate ultimately (and I voted here), it is hard to critique because of the way that it was built, with multiple authors all contributing screens.  I'll just say that everybody did a good job getting on the same stylistic page - nothing feels out of place - and you all did a great job differentiating screens and biomes so that each screen feels unique and distinct.

Evan20000 118 -
On the other hand, this was incredibly difficult to rate.  Dungeon maps are already a little bit of a stumper for me, and this is clearly a very gameplay-forward, state-based dungeon with a flow that's not immediately readable from just the map.  I like the aesthetic direction and choices here, but didn't really feel like I could compare this to any of the other maps.

Rekiron 127 -
A little bit easier to wrap my head around, but still as a dungeon it's hard to rate.  This also has a strong unified style but most rooms look pretty similar to other rooms.

MarinaraSauce 121 -
Cute little map, and I like seeing underrepresented tilesets in these contests.  This was my runner-up for this contest.  I feel that some things that could be improved on here are some tile/palette colors (the chest is a very weird shade of red and the blues are very primary) and relying a little less on straight walls for cliffs and other barriers.

These are all great, but I had to vote for Evan's. Why? Well, I want to see those sparkles in motion, and hopefully this will encourage Evan to finish Evan6th :D

Nah but seriously, the dungeon does look cool. The 1SG map is a close second. I wonder where they got the idea?
