This is in the 2.50.2 build. on win 7 64bitAMD, first open of tileset https://www.purezc.n...=tilesets&id=10

Is the palette suppose to animate your combos on certain csets instead of setting animation frames.

like this: cset 2 -1?

That is what's called palette cycling, and just as you asked, it's for a form of tile animation, mostly used for water tiles to show 'movement' It's not something that is used much anymore, if at all. The tileset is from 2002, so that's from a rather early version of ZC compared to what we have now, and there was a benefit from using it back then, as there were many more restrictive boundaries at the time. Usually now, the same animation would just end up being tile animation instead, even if it were the same tile and animation.

Ok thanks, Neptune.

Now I am going to have to make a new current style bs set..

Does anybody know what level palettes are causing this? :gonk:

Because I export the palette and import it into a untitled qst and it still cycles on cset4.

Go into Quest->Graphics->Palettes->Levels and select the palette that you are trying to change (I assume it would be #0). Look for the button "Cycle". That should contain all the information thats causing the palette to change colors. If you dont want the colors to animate, change every box to zero. The palette cycling information is held in the palette itself, so thats why its carrying over when you import/export it.

I believe the dungeon palettes that use lava also use palette cycling for the lava, so check that out too.

ok thanks, Otoroconcrack.

while on the subject of palettes.

"extra sprite" palettes,

for items? enemies? I don't remember them in the older pre 2.50 builds.

Any help on this would help me better use the palette system, thanks.
