I had to do an animation for my final project in the 3D Modeling class that I've been taking. Considering that I didn't know a single thing about 3DS Max at the beginning of the class, I'm really happy with how it turned out. Of course, even just by the end of the project, I had found out enough things that I kind of want to redo this without the deadline to have to turn it in, since I had to cut a few corners to get it done.

Anyways, given the theme, I figured some of you guys might get a kick out of this, and since I already had to have it on YouTube as part of the requirement to turn it in, I thought throwing it here as well would be a good idea.

If anybody's curious, the original requirements for the project was a 20 second animation with at least 8 moving objects and animations based on other objects. I figured instruments would be something I could do, since the individual parts of each instrument would match the second requirement, and there'd be enough parts to match the first requirement. I got the idea to match it with music, and the first "short enough" song that came to mind was this one. And what do you know, 8 instruments to be my 8 moving objects.

I tried to fit in a bunch of little details, like the engravings on the pedestals, but my camera shots don't really do a good job showing them off. If I wasn't cutting it so close to the deadline, I'd have tried to re-render and fix the camera to go a bit slower and give a better view. (I'd recommend playing the video at half-speed up until the part where the instruments rise up, to get a better view)

When I've got the free time (meaning probably over the summer so it's not eating up time I'd need for other class assignments), I want to come back to this and redo it, to re-implement the things that I couldn't fit into it the first time around.
