Hey everyone, getting back into this after a long hiatus. I'd like to learn how to make a counter that tracks the number of items you have found, for both the active and passive subscreens. If any of you have played one of the later randomizer games, this is essentially what I'm trying to do. If this requires a script, feel free to move this topic to the scripting forum.

Also working in 2.50 build 29.

Will this be replacing an existing counter, or an all-new counter?

It was going to be a new counter, but now that you mention it, I'm not using super bombs at all so I can have the items all add to the super bomb counter. My only issues would be things like rupees (acting as a collectible like the seashells), bomb bags/quiver upgrades that increase those counters as well.

The issue with using the built-in "Counter Reference" in ZC is that it won't let you keep track of items that already use that for other purposes, such as heart/magic containers.

You can just have a global variable in your script file that keeps track of the items you want to take into consideration. For each of them, attach an item script on pickup that simply increments that variable.

The only way to do this, that is not hackish, is with scripts.

Global variable sounds the most useful and exactly what I would need. Now to learn how to script...
