This topic will be for basic updates, such as graphics/maps/etc. And with that, I would like to share an update I've made.

I've never liked the gameboy houses and sprites used in the pure tileset, at least, not for my project. So I've been adding new house graphics to fit my theme, as well as updating the npcs. Some of that can be seen in the screenshot below.

 

Please Note: The changes and updates I post here will not reflect the demos, only the final version.

A few more screens after fixing all but one house. A lot of these new screens had a lot of imported tiles, as well as a few hand drawn (mouse drawn?) ones.

Okay, some minor updates for those who are watching and keeping track of the project.

 

As some of you know, I recently lost the majority of the past year's work on the project, and have had to restart from the Demo file.

Most of the work I lost would probably only take me about six months to regain, given that I still have a map file image from before the loss took place. Given this fact, I decided to start making more fundamental changes to the project as a whole, including functionality. These changes would likely include:

  • New Trees (Finished)
  • Updated NPC's (Finished)
  • New starting point with cutscenes (Finished)
  • New Chest Dynamics (Open with A, with sound fx - been wanting to add that for some time)
  • Roc's Feather Lvl. 2 (Double Jump)
  • Probably a new master sword sprite, I didn't much care for the one included with Pure. (Finished)
  • Changing the rocks to react to hammer powers, rather than bombs.

I've added the original trees from ALTTP, and have started replacing the smaller ones with them in the overworld. Some areas will still use the old trees, but only for variety and style, and in some cases to preserve screen space for playability.

 

I wanted to update everyone on my current timetable for this year's end:

November and December is always the busiest time for me, for numerous reasons, and as such, I won't be able to work on this project very much until sometime in January. Rest assured, I'll be back on with more updates after that, and with some luck, I should be able to really get ahead of the previous setback.

 

I want to thank everyone who has shown interest in this project so far. Even with the setback I had, I've been having a blast watching the maps come to life with some of the best memories I have, feeling like they are new again. This project holds some importance for me on a more personal level, and it's with great joy that I can share that journey with you all, in some fashion.

Hey guys! Thought I'd post an update, since I haven't done so in a while.

 

Okay, so after some major delays, I started working on this again. I also added a grid to the original overworld pic I was using, so I could see screen boundaries on it, easier. Since a lot of people were wondering how the screen layouts would be set up with this project, I'm going to add that here for you all to enjoy.

Granted, it obviously isn't the final draft, there may be changes down the line in some of the more difficult areas, but with that in mind, if any of you also have thoughts on those, feel free to chime in.

It will still be a long while before I can get it back to this version ^ but I'm hoping the bulk of the work will be simple builds. When rebuilding kakariko, I've already had to re-add a number of tiles I'd previously used, that aren't included with pure, all the buildings for example. Some, I'll have to redraw, such as the smoke stack on top of the blacksmith's building. Smaller delays like that tend to add up, but hopefully it will go as smoothly as possible.

 

I'm only able to really work on this over the weekends, so hopefully that gives you all an idea of the timetable I'm working with.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still work on this project. I know my images have been deleted, that's because tinypic shut down. I am currently searching for a new free image host, in my spare time that is. Once I find one, I'll be uploading a new screenshot of the Overworld.
