I also played a few older games on an emulator. Not proud of it, but like some might guess from the list I lack money. My sister's favourites would be Yoshi's Island for SNES and SSB Melee for GC.

Of course it's too hard to pick just one. That's the point. It doesn't mean one is head and shoulders above the rest, the point is to highlight a few games (one per system) that we really want to call people's attention too, as opposed to making an overwhelming list
