The lantern is in Krats' Town (Level 4 area). Use the ladder to get up on the snow and enter the house through the chimney.

My question is how did you manage to get to level 7 without it?

You need it to beat level 4, you can't get to the level 5 area without it, and you need the level 5 item to get to level 6, and you need the level 6 item to access level 7.

I used Din's Fire to get into Level 4 and beat it

I'll submit an update fixing that.

If Krats' town is melted, then you can't get the lantern.

I don't think you need it though since you have din's fire.

If you do, or just want it for completion sake, I can PM you the cheat-code, so long as you promise not to share it.

There are some unlit torches in Level 8, should I worry about those?

 

And, I've tried every clockwise/counterclockwise permutation of this maze path, but no results

Figured it out - the path was a bolt-tightening pattern: bottom right, top left, top right, bottom left, up.

No, they're just there for display.

The maze path was supposed to be read like your reading. Left to right, top to bottom.

i also managed to melt the ice without the candle. cannot use din's fire on most yellow/brown blocks though so I guess I'm stuck.Can't you make the candle a purchaseable item in castle town or something similar?

You use the wand on the yellow brown blocks.

 

I updated the game to where you can't get Din's fire before the Lantern, because the lantern is supposed to be a mandatory item.

If you'd like, I'll send you the cheat code so that you can give yourself the lantern, just don't share it with anyone.

I need some serious help that's driving me nuts....I am in Dan's Labrynth, all the way on the upper left side, second column in, 3rd row down...I feel like I either messed up the keys or am missing something serious....I need a key, and I've been all over looking for it.  I believe I am stuck, because I can't seem to progress and don't have any idea where to go. I finished level 6, have the wand and book, got level 4 sword and believe i need the hookshot..please help if you can!

Oh yeah...i think i need the mirror shield....where to find it?

Edit:- ok I found that key, and got dins fire...but I am still missing the mirrorsheild, and the hookshot...also, I used that gear once, but it remains in the inventory...any other use for it?

You'll get those from the main dungeons.

The gear has no other use. It's just a reskinned letter item.

Hello again, I really love this quest but still frustrated...ok, so I am in the clocktower, and trying to get that key that falls down from above, I think that is where i am stuck....i am trying to be as fast as I can, but think im missing something.  any tips?

Kill all the enemies, they won't respawn, then it's a straight shot to the key.

Where is level 2? 

 

I found level 3 but can't go anywhere without bombs.  Are the bombs in level 2?
