Hello and welcome to Map of the Month numero 10!

We've had a long run, and we've had enough maps EVERY month... though sometimes a few days late. (Sorry for that)
It's been great doing this and I'm hoping to keep doing it.
Of course, that depends on you, and your questmaking.

Anyways, let's get down to the buisness:

The land calls for a hero; one which the very world will transform, but only for the holders of the Crest...

Both great maps...
Have fun voting and have fun vo... o.o

Yeah, nevermind...

So much for submitting one tonight. icon_unsettled.gif

Anyways,

Joe123:
I think this is a very nicely designed dungeon. I really like the layering you did with the GB dungeon walls. It looks good to me. Looks like fun to go through, too. Nice use of the GB set. *Votes*

Linkus:
The left side of the map is really nicely done, IMO, but once you get to the right, it kinda becomes a little bland. It seems empty on the left because of a lack of ground detail. I'd add some flowers and maybe even some solid objects on the right side, like rocks or something else. Still, it's a good map.

Joe- Very good dungeon map. It looks true to the GB games and like it would be fun to play. Not overly special, but very nicely executed.

Linkus- I love the design of your overworld, particularly the village. The mountain design is also quite nice, and has a very N64-Zelda feel to me. The one quirk I had with it was the lack of detail in the grass other than flowers- there are a ton of tiles in DoR, and if you used more you could get your screens to look a little busier and a little more full.

In the end, although both are great, I went for Linkus.

Well, the basis is that the brighter, greener area is a field/plains area, so it won't have much in terms of variety or direction. The area is mostly designed for open-area fighting and travel - Detail isn't something you need to be too distracted by, and this is one of the first areas you will encounter in the quest.

In other words, this is just a rather large junction in this world. (hint hint...)

Yeah, I actually thought the right side of your map was the better side, Linkus, on account of it being as open and light as you made it. Cheers to that.

Joe's is nice. Had a great first-level feel to it, though I somehow doubt it is a first level

Linkus' however, is very nice. I love how good the field looks without having to pump in every tile in the tileset to give it interest. There could be one or two small rock tiles used on the grass, and the dirt (especially near the top) needs more variety. Also, there seems to be a lot of caves, which is odd, but overall it's a very nice map (Aside from the few tile errors I see)

Oh well good guess.
It is the first level, though there are two more floors to accompany it.

Holy crap. Do my eyes deceive me, or did Joe just make a dungeon.

I have to say, that really caught me off guard. I would never had expected a dungeon from you, especially one that good.

But in the end, I think I have to go for Linkus. The huge size of it, and the variety from place to place, makes it very appealing.

Joe: is that the first time you've ever made a dungeon with any set? Looks pretty darn great! awesome job on capturing that Gnarled root dungeon feel icon_thumbsup.gif *Votes*

Linkus: I absolutely love the right hand corner of the map and the pallete is awesome BTW.
I wasn't too pleased with the diffrent color trees in the graveyard though.

Ugh I hate to say it but I like Joe's first ... I'm a sucker for classic looking Zelda. Even though Linkus' map is beautiful and looks just great, it doesn't do it for me personally. So - good luck Joe! icon_biggrin.gif
