The official timeline doesn't include them, but should the BS Zelda games be on the timeline?  Not sure about BS Zelda 1, but Ancient Stone Tablets was a direct sequel to LTTPs events.   Doesn't seem like it'd do any harm.  What are your thoughts?

Yes. Anything less is creative laziness. ;)

Yeah, but then people would start asking about the CDi games. :P

No. Ancient Stone Tablets was a silly little fanservice game featuring a protagonist that came from our world or one like it. It's basically fanfiction that Nintendo released for fun. As for the original BS Zelda, wasn't it a reimagining of the first game anyway? So technically it's already canon, from a certain point of view...

They are part of the Circumvented Doom Intervention timeline. You know, the fourth branch off of Ocarina of Time where Link waits around for seven years before opening the Temple of Time:

Also, the first BS Zelda features a made up hero/heroine same as Ancient Stone Tablets. Looks like the same one, aesthetically. It's just that a lot of translations/hacks/reassemblings of BS Zelda include Link as an option or a replacement.

Be creative, and consider that the BS hero is Ness from Mother. :D

Yes, that! And so is the player character from Pokemon Generation 2 (Gold/Silver). Ness really gets around.

TFW when you typo a two sentence post and have to edit it and the edit explanation is as long as the post.

The CDI games need to be made part of the timeline first because they are clearly masterpieces and the best games in the series.

Everyone complains about Nintendo sticking to cartridges over CDs.

Just compare the CD-i Zelda trilogy to OoT/MM.

That comparison is oranges and oranges, for sure. Or maybe tomatoes and oranges? But definitely not apples. To get apples, you have to ram a tree with the Pegasus boots, and none of those games have the Pegasus Boots because Sega's blast processor stole the Pegasus Boots' energy in order to become so blast. That's why Oracles only has the Pegasus Seeds, the boots were still recovering.
