Over the years, some of our favorite childhood memories have been refurbished and polished to a glistening gem, through enhanced ports and remakes, to not only attract a new generation of players to the games we loved as children, but also to astonish the older generation alike.  Whether it be through graphics, music, gameplay or all of the above, these ports have made our favorites much more approachable and also much more awesome.  What are some of your standouts?

I made these last night.

Metroid Zero Mission is amazing.

Tomb Raider Anniversary was very nice, though it's 50% remake 50% new content. Not the same game updated.

Personally I find OoT3DS and Super Mario All-Stars aren't as good as the originals. I don't like their changes.

Based on the topic title, I thought this was going to be a discussion on the progression of the concept of nostalgia. A very deep conversation, to be certain. 14om9zO.png

But to answer the question, the easy picks for me are Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver and Kirby Super Star Ultra. Graphical enhancements, new content, pretty much the definitive versions of the games. The only thing I miss from Gold/Silver is the music, since I wasn't that fond of the remixes, but even that is a thing you can get in the remake! ... incredibly late in the game, and not all the chiptunes are accurate for some reason. Either way, almost perfect remake.

Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland is an excellent version of Kirby's Adventure IMO.

EDIT: Resident Evil 1 on GCN is awesome, but I haven't played through the original, so I can't really compare the two.

EDIT 2: Pokemon Fire Red was great.

Since you guys mentioned Pokemon, I found this evolution video.

Looks like I don't have to make one now x3.

But I did make another one for FF2.
