Sizewise, it's about on par with Dali from Hidden Duality or Town Island from Isle of the Winds. Nice village regardless. It all looks pretty good, and I can imagine how it might look if you added some custom work on demand with a little help from your friends (lol Beatles reference), like Peteo. I love these Gameboy elements being implemented, whether just for graphical show or beyond, like whatever that seed was called just east of the bomb shop. On the other hand, you should consider recoloring those cliff edges from blue to something that blends in with the environment better, rather than stick out too much.

Yeah, the blue cliff edges do look a bit out of place. But other than that, i'd say the town looks really good.

wow! looks impressive! here's some suggestions, just my opinion, as it looks good the way it is already.

1. maybe add a small lake or some shallow water, or a little waterfall somewhere in the town. for example, in link's awakening koholint, there's a fishing mini-game inside the town:

2. some signs might be nice.

3. you can decorate the houses. there's a few roof styles to choose from, plus it's easy to recolor the roofs. also there's unique signs, like the boxing mitts or the big clock you can stick right on top of the roofs. and you can make houses longer than 3 combos as well.

4. maybe add a weird tree somewhere in the middle of the town and just make up some small story about it in a house that has nothing to do with the actual quest, just to buy some variety in the town.

you made a keen observation about the detail in gameboy games. i have trouble coping with it as well. it seems like you have to litter the screen with little graphics to make it look "good." but maybe it's because all the graphics are small, so you have to draw that much more stuff on one screen?

For advice you might want to ask Joe. I think he is king of this tileset.

1) I'll see what I can do about water, but the surrounding areas are planned out pretty well and it'd be pretty hard to shove in some water that wasn't supposed to be there in the first place.
2) no signs, no point
3) I'll see what I can do about those houses, but they are staying the same size.
4) I'll try to add a little variety to the trees, but I don't want it too crazy. I hate quests that use every single possible tree design in every screen, its just spastic and annoying.
5) Blue mountain ridges, I guess I have to recolor them red. They looked fine to me, but apparently red is the universally accepted mountain color it seems.

well in the official games, they were always red. Would it not make sense to have them like that or do people hate what the official designers did?

Red sounds best in my opinion.
Also, maybe you could put a bird somewhere in the trees? It would make the town seem more alive.

I'd have to shrink those bird sprites, they are freakishly huge when placed on those trees...

I'm replacing a few trees and I colored the mountain edges brown now. But I just can't fit in water. I've constricted myself too well in the areas surrounding the village. I can't shove in water which there wasn't any planned in the first place. It would require major restructuring and hours more of work to put in something that I felt didn't really need to be there in the first place. There are plenty of other places full of water so it should balance out.

Yeah Drewby, please stay on topic. If you can't reach Peteo by PM, try to reach him by other private means, and if those options aren't available, you'll have to accept that you won't get help from him and maybe look for such help from somebody else. Perhaps create a new topic asking anybody for such help?
