Took a look at Alone in the Dark on GBC, really neat to see how they've recreated the Resident Evil exploration system of moving around in pre-rendered "3D" areas with dramatic camera angles with this level of tech.

Been playing more Sonic Heroes, and Mania, and yeah, that new Metroid. AM2R, I think it's called? I mean, it is another Metroid 2 remake, official or not :P.

I'm not really sure if this is the thread for this, but I don't want to make a new one. So, I'm a huge rock nerd. The chaos emeralds in Sonic games have always perplexed me, since emeralds, are only green-- mostly. I've thought for a while, that within Sonic lore the chaos emeralds are just magic gems, and nothing more. Since I'm a huge rock nerd, I stumbled across this. It's not just a theory, but a rock solid theory.

I'm not sure what qualifies gems as different... gems (can't think of the mineral equivalent for species), but I do know that there are multiple colors of topaz and diamonds, so I assume that might be true for emeralds as well. I'm guessing the distinction between gems is based on their molecular structure and density rather than their color.

Emerald as the name of a color will always refer to green, but as for the mineral...

...okay so I was interested enough to do a quick search and apparently Emerald is the term for a green Beryl, but Beryls do come in other colors. So I guess there is no such thing as an Emerald, that's just a code name for green Beryls. Also Amethyst is just the name for purple quartz apparently. Huh. Also "varieties" would have worked instead of "species".

I've been playing Star Ocean - Till the End of Time -  from my old PS2 collection.

Is actually a very nice game, the PS2 was ahead of its time.

And people are always buying and porting older games on newer PS4 anyways because their just so damn good.'

Odin Sphere again also i been playing on the PS2.

I will never freaking sell my collection, there are some games that may never be re-playable even though PS4 makes you think they'll bring every single title back, they just won't..

The PS2 really does have a wonderful library; Bought Metal Slug Anthology SMT Nocturne, and both of the Digital Devil Saga games last week and I've been having a blast with them.

Been going on a crazy Metroid marathon. Been playing Super again, and got all the way to Maridia in one sitting. I probably play this about once a year, it's up there with AlttP, and DKC2 for me in terms of re-playable games. I also started playing Fusion again. Funny story, I got this when it came out along side Prime (I was a spoiled 12 year old). I played it endlessly for years, but then, I realized it has been nearly a decade since I played this one. I know it's a bit of a divisive title in the Metroid series, but I generally enjoy it. I think Zero MIssion is better, but hey, that's just my opinion, man.

Playing Mario's Picross on GB. Remember the Sudoku craze? This is better.

EDIT: Okay, later levels bring guessing into the equation more often, not a fan of that over deduction.

So yesterday I beat Chronophobe Simulator 2014, AKA Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. And guess what? I didn't think it was terrible.
It was a bit tricky to get the hang of with the new staggering mechanics and the time system, but I eventually figured it out. I was very convinced I was going to run out of time and get a game over, but I ended up finishing all the main quests and still had several game days left to spare. It even came to a point where there were no worthwhile side quests to complete and I ended up skipping the last couple days.
So yeah, clock wasn't all that big of a deal, and the game in genreral wasn't all that bad, though at 50 hours it did feel a bit longer than I would've preferred for a FF sequel/spinoff.

I'd been playing New Vegas for the past couple of months and I've finally put the game to rest for now. It was my second file since picking the game back up again; I did a New Vegas run, then installed TTW and played through 3 before returning for another New Vegas run. It was a very addicting and enriching experience and I'm gonna miss the time spent with this game... but it's time to move on for now. I've done basically everything important to accomplish, and I've left the Mojave behind for now. I do plan on returning one day, for a final and more "completionist" run. I mean, I got pretty close here, doing as many quests as possible (though I'm sure there's still plenty left), and then I even uncovered every single map marker. I more mean I want to have a run where I do all of this before I must commit to only one of the ending routes, so I can keep three separate files for each such route without leaving much behind to complete. There's still a part of me that wonders if I'll ever try doing a run siding with the game's villains, but I already tried it once and just can't do it.

So now I'm not sure what I want to get into now for games. I have a half-completed file of Freedom Planet, which I started up again not too long ago since I never finished it when I first bought it, but... I honestly don't feel the game that much. I started Fallout 1, which would be interesting for seeing more series origins, but the RNG turn-based combat also doesn't sit right with me. So who knows. Maybe I'll sit in a void until Mario Odyssey comes out. Lord knows I need more writing time...

For the last month or so I've been going through some older games, With the find of a ps3 was getting some ps3 games beat, complete FFXIII for the first time on the ps3 version. Beat MGS4, white knight chronicles 2 was beaten as well.

I picked up Batman arkum asylum figured I would play my first ever batman game, also snagged up ni no kuni wrath of the white witch. Also picked up a few ds games, right now playing the ds version of chrono Trigger, then will be playing pokemon black and black 2 after that.

I got a few others I need to play as well. One of them is Trails of cold steel on steam. My friend bought it for me and I haven't played it yet at all. God I feel so bad when he buys me games and I don't get to them fast enough. I feel like a shitty friend when that happens.

I really need to get him to stop buying me games all it does is make me feel bad :(

Playing the original Superstar Saga in anticipation for the remake, as well as constantly playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe online. Even when I go on a losing streak, I still love playing Mario Kart online. Not too sure why.

I'm with you there about MK8. I alayws get so mad, and lose 98% of the time, but it's still somehow fun? I think part of it is, that anyone who plays online knows that if they win, it is by pure grace of the MK8 gods. That, or remembering every jump, boost, and short cut and picking a character with good handling and top speed.

I decided I wanted to try replaying some of the 3D Sonic games. Turns out my Sonic Adventure memory card data was corrupted and had to start from scratch, not that I discovered this until after I beat the Sonic story and attempted to go to my completed file to just do the Super Sonic story. That's where I called it. Sonic Adventure is a bad game. I couldn't stand the hub world gameplay and its aimless design, where you have to check a hint bubble thing to find out where to go if you weren't told by the plot. Level design is atrocious, the engine is rough, Red Mountain was the only level I thought was legitimately good. Most of the level design is just boring, bland, or stupid. It's not fun to play. And I never liked any of the alternative characters anyway, so I'm not gonna bother playing their stories again until I'm feeling masochistic enough to get my completed file back.

Seriously though, what the hell were they thinking when they made Casinopolis? This is not what I play Sonic games for! At least in Casino Night Zone and its copycats there's actual Sonic gameplay to complement the casino gimmicks. And no, I don't play Sonic to run bumper cars through an empty race course. People say this is better than Adventure 2?

Speaking of, I just started that. Sonic levels are such an improvement. The engine's not that much better but the level design is so much more engaging for the most part. I still don't even mind Knuckles' stages. Tails' are still bad though.
