Gah. I thought I responded to this. But I guess I didn't. ):

Schwa - Thanks! It means a lot to hear that. I really appreciate it. If you do give the demo a shot, I look forward to hearing what you have to say on that. icon_smile.gif Either way, many thanks! icon_biggrin.gif

kurt91 - The walls come from Goof Troop, actually. I just edited them a little to fit the perspective of other Zelda dungeons. What tile set are you using? I'll recolour them for that set and send them over if you'd like. icon_smile.gif

Actually, I'm making my own tileset. I'd be fine with them as-is, and just to the necessary tweaks myself. Thanks, though.

Sounds good.

Take whatever you want from it. :3

(As an aside, the doors aren't final. I'm having a hard time getting them to look the way I want them to. ): )

That said and done, I think I'm off to get some stuff done on this! icon_biggrin.gif

Got it. Thanks a lot! I had been trying to fashion walls out of the Maku Tree tiles from the Oracle games. Didn't work all that well, really. I did find a way to alter them and make some really, REALLY big trees, though.

Update time! icon_biggrin.gif And first one located Underneath the Armos. O:

So, as I mentioned before, the next dungeon I would be working on is the Ninja Castle. As you probably figured out, it's a dungeon with plenty of ninjas. Here's the run-down of what you're gonna get in the dungeon.

Traps

There's a few kind of traps I've got going in this dungeon. Some will cause spikes to pop from the ground, others will cause projectiles to come flying at you. So looking at a screen before charging in will be crucial so you can figure out what you're in for.

Enemies

Unlike the last update, I won't bother showing a small screen cap of each enemy because they're all the same, save for colours. Here's our rundown though.

Blue ninjas will teleport around the screen and shoot shurikens at you. Simple stuff. Honestly, they're kinda like Wizrobes, except these guys don't come into the row or column as you, they just appear somewhere and throw it directly at you.

Red ninjas will wander around and throw 3 kunais in front of them. Simple enough.

White ninjas will also wander around. They won't stop too often, but when they do, they create illusions of themselves. They wander around aimlessly and do extremely minimal amount of damage to you, but cannot be defeated. It's best to take the lead quickly so no more illusions can be created.

Green ninjas are a little mean. When you try to hit them with any form of attack, they'll vanish and appear behind you (or another spot very close to you if your 6 isn't a possible target) to attempt to stab you. Your chance to attack is during the time they're stabbing, so you'll need to be quick!

And finally, orange ninjas are the most harmless. They throw around smoke bombs that deal no damage to you. However, they will cloud the screen up if left unchecked, making it difficult to see in the area. They don't last long, but it's in that second or two that a shuriken from another ninja will come hurling at you that you'll have a hard time spotting.

Also, our boss.

I was originally going to try my hand at using the GB Aquamentus (the full, original sheet, not the one in the GB set) but I quickly realized that I'm a lazy piece of crap and didn't want to recolour it to fit Pure as well as shade it and all that. >_<

This guy moves around a lot and shoots lots of fire. As the fight goes on, he gets more angry and will shoot more stuff. There's still tweaking that needs to be done, but that's ultimately what will happen with this boss fight.

The Dungeon Item

The item this time around is...a rupee. No, I'm not kidding. Here's a shot of it in action -

I don't want to go into too much detail. But I do hope it'll be a fun item to use. icon_smile.gif

Other Crap

From the screenshot I posted earlier, you'd be able to see that there are a few outdoor segments. There's also a very small tunnel segment in the basement area, to kinda try to make thins a little different. While I was originally going for a more dojo theme, I've kind of shifted focus. It's not really a dojo strictly any more, but more an attempt at a Japanese-esque interior in general.

The dungeon itself hasn't been fully tested aside from myself going through, so there's likely to be some changes for a few things to even things out a bit. But overall, this is what you can expect from the 4th dungeon. The only thing that's really being left out are the puzzles I'm going to add. (So I guess technically, it's not 100% done yet.)

To wrap things up, have two more screen shots of the dungeon.

This room isn't pleasant.

Another outdoor segment

From there, this leaves me a small cave to lead to the 5th and final main game dungeon as well as the dungeon itself. (Which I plan to do something kinda different.) That'll wrap the main game up nicely, leaving me any bonus content. The bonus dungeons will generally be smaller, so I don't think it'll take me as long to get through most of them. There's one or two that will be longer though. But we'll get to those when we get there. icon_smile.gif

Ya know what would be really fun. Putting these guys in cramped rooms full of dead ends and tight paths. icon_thumbsup.gif

So if he's shooting fire everywhere, why doesn't he burn down the wooden building you're in? Why is there a dragon here anyways? I have to question the intelligence of these ninjas if they're keeping a giant, fire-breathing monster inside a wooden structure like this. I'd say it's pretty poor planning on their part.

Final question: Can we bring in the Magic Gun and do a re-enactment of The Last Samurai here?

In all seriousness, this does look really cool though. Great work, as always.

Simply amazing, Daniel. You put so much work into this quest. I hope my quests could be like yours someday.

I'm extremely excited to play! Everything looks so well thought out. The ninja's look fun to fight too. And I'm excited to try that new item! Your items are always flawless, btw. icon_biggrin.gif

Thank you Jared! Sorry I didn't respond sooner - I didn't actually look here in the past while... ):

I do come with something...a little different.

I present you a prototype of a new direction I want to take this quest in. It's very early in development, so not everything is there yet and can still be pretty buggy. If anyone wants to play it and see if you find any bugs or have suggestions, drop me a line here. icon_smile.gif

Enjoy!

EDIT: Also, if it isn't clear enough, you the player, are Loftwing 1.
That was a lot of work for a joke that nobody's going to get....

Despite the amount of work that the overhaul must have taken, I'm completely taken aback at how well scripted and bugfree it is.

Well, I think it's obvious the 'prototype' is an April Fool's joke...Sort of.

To anyone who downloaded the quest and gave it a whirl, you just saw a segment that will show up in the quest before the super bonus dungeon. I do plan to implement a small shoot-em-up segment for the fun of it. But I figured I'd have some fun with it, lol.

Thanks to a good friend of mine for the voice of Loftwing 2, TS for Loftwing 3-7 and my brother for Lofting 8. It was...extremely last second, but I'm glad I could actually pull it, lol. I was AWACS SpaceEye. icon_razz.gif

For anyone curious, the scene there was meant to recreate this little bit from the final mission of Ace Combat 4. If things go the way I want them to, the boss of the area will be a huge homage to Zero, but we'll see. X3

As for what I'm working on right now for the quest - I'm currently doing the dungeon that will net you the 2nd level sword. It's a bit of a larger dungeon, but I do think that once I start making the 2nd sword a thing, it'll be a worthwhile trek to get it...I hope. ): I won't post a full update yet because I only have one of three areas done for it and would rather have more to show. But it is coming. icon_smile.gif
