I'll use it, that's for sure. I never actually knew how to beta test before (call me stupid) until I read this, so I'll definitely use it.

Jeez, phil, would you calm down? You need to lay of the CAPS. Even though it is an old topic and it should not have been revived, that's no excuse to go ballistic on him. So you're both at fault.

Does it really matter, since it was pinned?

...Either way, sorry.

Yes it does matter.

And sorry to go ALL CAPS on you, but I just was really irritated.

You have 3 posts...I think it's safe to say you have no clue what you are talking about so just read the rules and keep in line.

OR I'LL SHOOT YOU IN THE FACE!!!

Just kidding...that's just some sick twisted joke that me and my friends carry on with each other, that we're going to do something violent to person X...in the face.

Hey, I'd use it, Its very organized! See, I usually had five catagories (or would have five... If I ever test a quest):

1. Major: Game stopping, can't go one with this.
2. Minor: Not as serious; you can still finish the game.
3. Graphical: Tiles don't line up, or any other vissual anomalies.
4. Warp: A warp doesn't function properly.
5. Misc.: Any other small bug that effects anything aspect of the game.

Well, if you do what I do and stop playing and test after every last screen... Well it slows down quest building. Sometimes it's easier to just keep going along with building in the editor and having someone else test it.

Having others Beta test your quest allows for a second pair of eyes that don't know how the quest plays out. So they inevitably run into things you, yourself wouldn't.
It's the most thorough method of working out your quests bugs.

I thought I'd ressurrect this sticky due to a recent quest that was released by Blaman: Kamala's Tomb
Apparently he had testers test it, he tested it himself, and yet there are still major bugs that players have found!
My suggestion would be is this: Once your first wave of testers has gone through your quest, go through it yourself. And when you feel like all bugs have been worked out: HIRE A SECOND WAVE OF TESTERS! Seriously, some new eyes to the quest could bring out bugs the previous wave of testers may have grown used to. Also, test it yourself once more along with your second wave.
And if you are still unsure, don't feel afraid to hire a third wave (test it again with them too). Its much better than making constant updates to the quest database after release.

This is a tactic we're employing with Lost Isle so we're damn sure all bugs are worked out. We do not want players to find a SINGLE bug with this quest.
