So, i've been messing around with the sharp ocarina application, and I think i'm getting really good at making maps, but one thing I cant seem to figure out, is adding actors and objects.

This is where you add objects.

And then say you wanted to add in a tree, what numbers go where?

I'm pretty sure actors have to be added with the Hylian Toolbox application, then they can show up in SharpOcarina. I think adding support is planned for SO, hence the buttons, but it has not been fully implemented.

You can read more about it here in this thread. The third and fourth posts have the pertinent info.

Thank you! I really want to make a short little quest in that program. I think it would be good experience for moving towards unity or unreal.

I used to be really into trying to mod this game, and made a lot of models (which you, or anyone can use, if they want). It wasn't as advanced when I was trying, and some steps have been made since to make it more accessible. Unfortunately, that forum is really old, and it is kind of hard to find a one stop spot for all your OoT hacking needs since it requires several programs, and has a somewhat fragmented community. There have been at least three different forums that I've seen for it.

EDIT: Also, imo, it is easier to use a modern engine to make a scene/ room than it is to hack a N64 game, like OoT. :P

I would just make maps in SketchUp like i've been doing and import them into unity, but I don't know anything about scripting. Like, I could make a full fledged game if I had help with the coding and stuff.

Would you know how to do that in the Hylian Toolbox? I can't seem to figure out what numbers go where.

Hi there,

The first number "0077" is the actor ID or actor number and it defines that the actor is a tree. You have to write it into the Number field of the Actor section.

The variable defines how the tree behaves; as implied by the two &, you can sum two values, for instance, you could sum 0800 (get Deku seeds) and 000A (ugly tree) to get 080A (ugly tree that gives Deku seeds). Then you simply write 080A into the Variable field of the Actor section.

Now that you have set your actor, you have to load its object (model) into the map. On your list, the object number "007C" is next to the actor number. You have to add it in the object section. Note that you only need to add the object number once, even if you have multiple instances of this actor in your map (e.g. even if you had 100 trees, one object 007C would be sufficient).
