I just keep getting ideas for my quest that I don't know how to implement... I guess that's why PureZC exists ^^;

I'm wondering if it's possible to have an item that'll revive you after you die, but only once. It doesn't need to be as complex as catching a fairy in a bottle. It can just be an item you find/buy, and is like a one-use get out of jail free card. I'm definitely guessing this can only be done with scripts, which is a bad thing for me, since I'm no competent with the scripts, but maybe, if one of you super geniuses are willing to take the challenge, then I, and anyone who wants to use it, can be happy and eternally grateful QuQ

My quest is going to be designed in such a way that dying is a serious punishment, and if you're not careful, you can die easily, so I definitely need to balance that out somehow, and having an extra life sort of item would definitely help.

Thanks in advance to anyone who's willing to even take this thread seriously <3

I remember years ago, Soga made me a script for this exact thing. A bottled fairy you'd buy in shops, complete with an animation of dying and being revived. However, the script got lost in time. All that remains is this: http://www.purezc.ne...=57510&p=818495

I'm sure someone could build off of it for you.

Honestly, an animation for being revived isn't even necessary. It could just freeze the screen and refill your health the moment you die, like using a potion, and I'd be completely fine with that. As long as it's functional, that's all I care about~!

It needs a couple extra headers, too, found here:

UPDATE

So, I added the ffcscript.zh and stdExtra.zh files into my folder, and it wants me to set constants. That's pretty vague. What am I supposed to set them to? I'm literally a noob, and need precise instructions.

Which folder do you have them in? They should be in the base folder, the one with the ZQuest .exe file. If you're getting more errors, you can copy/paste them from allegro.log (open it up in Notepad or any other text editor).

I put them in the same folder as Zquest, like it told me to. I think the main problem is I have no idea how to load global scripts. Do I put them in the same file as all my other scripts, or do they get their own file? I think this'll be the only global script I end up using, since I'm just not good enough to combine them, but I'd like to know how to get at least one working.

You load the global script into a slot, just like an FFC script. The difference is that there are only four slots for globals, as opposed to 512 or however many FFC slots there are. You can click on the different tabs after hitting Compile to find the global script. Each global slot serves a different purpose, too. The only one you'll probably be using is Active.

And no, it doesn't have to be in a separate file.

It's randomly working now. I tried it earlier, and it had a compile error, but now, it works.

I don't even know who to thank, you guys, myself, or the random Zquest miracle.

It might be a good idea to figure out how it got fixed for future reference, and so it doesn't break again.
