maybe i'm dumb, where's level 3? finished level 2, got a heart container, found a shop (magic shield, blue ring, flippers), the 200 rupees, and the bomb upgrade. i've looked through the Lifted Cavern, and found level 4 and the ultimate test. can't figure out what i'm missing or where i'm supposed to go. see a few spots where i would need a raft, did i miss that item somewhere?

Really enjoying this quest so far. I'm in level 4, just got the bubble rod, but can't figure out how to access any of the dark water spots. I've noticed a bunch of odd spots, but can't figure out what to do with any of them. Can I have a hint, please?

Do you have the flippers? If so, try diving in the dark water spots.

I don't have the flippers. Are they found inside the level? As is, I can't even reach the dark water.

Oh. No, flippers are outside the level, inside a hidden shop. You need the bigger wallet from inside level 4 to get them.

Now that you mention it, I've been to that shop, and my brain deleted the flippers because I didn't have the wallet at the time. Thanks for the help, I'm sure that'll solve it for me.

It's the treasure from a mini-level near in the dark world (I think it is one screen right and one screen up from level 6). It's a pretty tough mini-level, but not too long.
