This quite interesting. I managed to get a shield and open up a path in a cave I can't reach yet in that swamp area to the west. Where is the blue tunic?

Deathbringer, you have to finish the 2 first levels before you can get the Blue Mail.

Bowser, Lv1 is in on a swamp in the west (from the village).

The bracelet itself won't be found until after level one, if you haven't been to it yet.

If you don't have the bow and arrows, here's a hint for you, go back to town and look around there.

Yeah, some items that you know you will eventually need you won't be able to get for quite some time. The quest is that big. When you get them, you have truly earned them. Before entering level 1, you will only need your sword, the bow, and the arrows. Once you get the raft from level 1, that will open up more of the overworld, including some more items.

Okay, here's a BIG HINT for all of you, read the pdf readme file, esp at the bottom where it says 'hints'
If you can't do that, then at least read this:
The message strings the skull dudes say to you inside 3 of the houses in the village CHANGE after EVERY major dungeon. They subtly point you in the direction of where to go, or what to do next to get to either a) the next dungeon or b) a new item.
Not all strings may be relevant at that point, (like one refers to the boomerang which can't be acquired until the level after) but that still doesn't mean you can ignore it. So they are VERY helpful. Check back with those three often.
