Will Zelda Classic ever have an installer? It would be very useful for creating file associations (With qst, zpl, etc files), allowing people to install only certain features (Such as only ZC not ZQ, ZC and ZQ but not the first, second, and third quests, etc).

There are a lot of tools to make installers such as Inno Setup (My Favorite), Install Shield, or creating an msi with C#.

You can already ditch the extra quest files if you don't want them (and it's not like they take up space). And setting up file type association isn't particularly hard.

Installation is just an annoyance anyway.  If you don't NEED to make an installer, why bother?

ZC 1.90-2.10 had installers. I assume it was abandoned after that since it was kinda pointless.

I think what ZC really needs is to have several PUP programs come packaged along with it. If I have less than three unwanted web browser toolbars when I'm done installing, something is horribly wrong.

(I know installers aren't necessarily a bad thing, but all the malware and bloat people like to package in them is what I've come to associate them with. And ZC certainly doesn't need one. It's a drag and drop installation. You really can't make that any simpler.)

I kinda wish more programs would follow ZC's example here and not require any sort of "installation" necessary, making it just drag & drop into a folder and having it run entirely out of said folder, instead of storing data in like fifty-million different places on your machine.

Would be nice if you could package a standalone quest in some sort of installer or at least export the quest file as some sort of executable, so people don't have to go though the complicated process of setting up a standalone icon button thingy. Some peoples quests might depend on that kinda thing.

Other than that I do agree ZC itself doesn't need an installer. Unzip and go is nice.

You can just unzip most installers anyway, can't you?

I personally think Installers are lame.  I've usually seen them as bloat DRM.
