– An additional 1:1 zoom on the mini map will be displayed by pressing the L Stick. This will allow improved visibility of your surroundings and make it easier to check quest locations.

Doesn't this new map mode alleviate one of your complaints as well?

– A Pro Controller can now be used when the Joy-Con Controllers are attached to the system in Tabletop Mode.

Those are some nice changes (I don't own the game) and the various bug fixes are also welcome.

I'd have to try it out to find out, and my TV isn't here presently (we just recently moved). I'd rather not test it on handheld mode since it is easier to read the map when the game's so close to your face, so it wouldn't be a good test, but I much prefer playing the game on my TV. There's a noticeable resolution downgrade in handheld mode and this game deserves to be viewed in HD high resolution glory.

I do have to say that the map update is very much welcomed. I'm glad I don't have to keep finding which map and area I am on each and every time I want to take a look at where I need to go, or where I'm at. Just have to push X, and I am set, although it is a bit of a bummer for those that used X as the skip travel option. I always just went into the menu anyways for skip travelling, so it's a non-issue for me. Still loving the game though. I'm sitting probably halfway through Chapter 5, and have 80+ hours into it. Still exploring everywhere I can get to, even if it kills me... over and over.

The changes to left-click minimap are okay I guess. Also there's a zoom on the skip travel map that I either didn't notice before or was new. I forget. Either way, I've been doing a bit of sidequesting and leveling up Blades when I stumbled across a blatant Pokemon reference.

Even Link has a reason to celebrate this game:

This is a new DLC armor set for Link that is based on Rex's suit.

I must say, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has a large and gorgeous world that should obliterate any doubts about just how powerful the Nintendo Switch truly is.

I've identified my two biggest problems with the game. They ultimately don't ruin it, because there's so much else to love, but they're things that could've been vastly improved.

Field Skills - Every Blade has some kind of skill that can get put to use in the field, whether it's something simple as an element mastery or something more unique like lockpicking or superstrength. In theory, this is a neat system, because these abilities can be stacked or leveled to pass checks to progress or find goodies. In practice, they're aggravating, because only engaged Blades' field skills can be triggered. This results in a lot of menu management in order to progress in a sidequest or a main quest, when instead it ought to have just tracked all your Blades' abilities to save the headache. Grinds the pace to a near-halt at times, though it's typically more of a pain in sidequests than the main quest.

Merc Missions - There's one simple way to make these not aggravating: Don't require them in any quest. They should be nothing more than side things to run in the background for a bit of extra gold or EXP, as well as an easy way to level up your Blades a bit. But they often show up as a required part of a sidequest, so basically that step of the quest is "literally wait until this is done before you can progress." It's asinine and hurts the pace even more than Field Skills. When this happens, I usually go and do something else while waiting in the menu until the timer runs out; I thought I left pointless waiting behind with Majora's Mask. It's especially egregious because it requires literal hours of these to progress the quest of one of the best healer Blades just to get her highest tier of her skill tree.

Again, it's still a great game I highly enjoy and am still sinking hours into. These are just areas that need addressing to make for a better experience in the future.

Also there's a weird aggravating bug that racks up the in-game timer and I'm not sure what causes it. Something about suspending play during combat or a cutscene? But I swear last time it happened, I was in neither. Basically, I have an inaccurate in-game timer of almost 170 hours when it's closer to 110 according to the system itself. Kind of makes me upset, but small bug, I guess... Hope they patch it, though I harbor no delusions of such a patch fixing existing timers.

It is with great sadness I must report a tragedy has befallen this wonderful game. The Ardainian soldier enemies, those glorious fountains of memes, known for their very enthusiastic battle cries of "THINK YOU CAN TAKE ME?!" and "DON'T FORGET ME!" have been utterly ruined. The most recent patch to the game has changed their lines to be slightly less frequent and will instead shout "Take this!" and "Don't forget!" One of the most enjoyable aspects of the game has been taken away from us, and the game will never again be the same as these soulless shells have been put in their place.

Now they're showing off an arena-style mode. Has Shulk and Fiora as blades. And you can buy Pyra some clothes! Looks like it takes up an accessory slot, though. And Shulk seems to have a bit of an ahoge now.

I was watching this and thought the feature was cool (if not something that should've been in the default game like the original and X) until I saw the part where it takes up an Aux. Core slot. That's honestly a waste of a slot to me. Why couldn't it just be an option somewhere?
