Stay Airborne: X08-JPM-WGF

The floor is not lava, but if you touch it once you leave the ground, you lose. Bounce off Wigglers and use twisters and vines to stay off the floor. I was barely able to clear check this; it's pretty tough.

Rainbow Road R Button Mash Fest

SBD-C1J-5PF
NSMBU Night themed. Probably a bad level. Take advantage of low gravity to mash R so you can float. There are no enemies, just some jumps.

Crate Escort Mission: 04F-636-GWF

Tough 3D World styled level. Use crates strategically to get into clear pipes; arrows show where to drop the crates. If you misplace one, you're usually hosed. Requires long jumps and possibly crouch walking (hold down and a direction.)

Slide 'n' Glide: F1X-8MC-H1G
A course with a lot of hills. Slide to take out enemies and jump with good timing to move forward. (This was my first stage.)

Fatal Traction: W0L-KR3-VYG
A platforming course centered around icy blocks.

Icy Ascent: 88F-0NQ-MPG
A NSMB level with slick surfaces and lots of wall-jumping. It's a fairly long course but keeps things fresh on the journey. (This is my latest stage and the one I'm happiest with overall.)

In case I add more stages but forget to mention them here, you can check my Maker ID: VFL-GF5-CQG. My maker name is "syzygy."

Shout-out to Anthus, who played my stages without knowing whose they were. :)

I'm almost certain Fatal Traction was in a multiplayer race. Can't check atm but that name looks familiar lol.

Unlike boring ol' me who uses the same name literally everywhere.

I don't have anything new to share yet, but:

Ben's Castle Dash has been defeated, I'm pretty sure what I've got on that now is the fastest possible time.

And for the level of blatant lies (Everybody Loves Water Levels!), I'm pretty sure sub-55 is possible, but it'll be kind of tight.

Sky Scamper: VFY-H5Q-CPG

This one's a port of one of my levels from the original Mario Maker. An SMW level, with some mild inspiration taken from Yoshi's Island 3. Ported over because it was one of my courses I was the most proud of, although with minor tweaks for internal consistency. Would have used the "sky" theme but wanted the regular ground blocks, not cloud blocks.

Opening Stroll: 6P4-X4S-0PF

First new course, made in the 3D World theme. Simpler course, my original vision was slightly more ambitious until I learned just how lacking the 3D World style is in some ways, so I compromised. Still enjoy it enough.

Superman 64: 0BG-9YS-00H

The biggest meme level I made in the past returns! It's mostly intact from before and still in SMW style, but this time uses the "sky" theme and adds a coin requirement of 150 to complete. Should you fail the challenge, a message awaits you past the goalpost...

Bowser's Buttress: QR1-VRB-7QG

Another ported level of mine, a somewhat-challenging SMB3 level. This is a direct port, and upon replaying and recreating it, I wasn't that fond of it anymore. I still uploaded it, but the main reason I remade it was to make...

Bowser's Buttress - Redux: NY3-TMV-3DG

... a complete overhaul of the same level. Same general theme, still SMB3 style, but changing some segments, removing others, and giving things a more consistent feel overall. The first half is more changed than the second, but I'm a lot more satisfied with this version of the level.

Battlefield - Super Smash Bros.: 56F-NQV-QJG

An incredibly simple level, also in 3D World. Made very quickly and for fun, it's just a stage modeled after Battlefield. Defeat three bullies to win. I chose bullies because you have to knock them off the stage to win, it felt fitting.

Ship Skip: FH6-KRY-Y1H

Began life as "Bowser's Buttress 2 - Bites Back." It would have featured an airship segment followed by a castle finale, but I liked the airship segment enough that I split it into its own separate level. SMB3 style.

Will update this as I add more levels, and will get around to playing as many of the levels in this thread as I can as well. Hoping the 3D World gets some expansions in the future; it happened in the original game, would be nice to see here. Still plan on using it though. "Limitation breeds creativity" and all that.

I have been slowly recreating Super Mario Bros. Special, by Hudson Soft. With this version though I hope to put some of the other level types to use, do some creative interpretation but otherwise same layout.

P2W-QG2-96G   is world 1-1. I'm up to 3-3 righ tnow.

I've played a handful of levels posted here, mostly just to follow people, will try out other levels at some point. In the meantime, Anthus you're fired.

It gets 'em every time!

I need to play some levels. I kinda haven't touched this game in like a week. I got really burned out on doing multiplayer, but I think I am mostly fully recovered from it.

I've made several more levels, and deleted a few. But still y'all should look up some of my newer ones; I'm mostly trying to make levels that wouldn't be out of place in a real Mario game now.

Speedgaming hosted their first weekly Super Mario Maker 2 race, which kicked off with a bang! They decided to pick up my course, The Haunt Begins, as one of the courses being streamed today. I won second place in the Makers' division with the course and it was a thrill watching people to play these courses all round.

Twitch video (will replace with Youtube video when it is available): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/478241874

The Haunt Begins is the fourth course that was played in the first segment of the race.

Galactic Expanase 1-1:
A little tougher than your Nintendo made first levels, but shouldn't be unmanagable. There is a lot of optional content, though you could beat the level in 2-3 minutes.
Looking to hear some feedback and critique on what I could fix up on this or in the future.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Six Complete Stages. This set includes two full worlds out of the 4 or 5 I have planned.

Things to know about these stages:

  • These are retro stages designed to feel like Mario 1 and Mario 3 (with a few modern touches thrown in)
  • World 1 is easy to beat, using Nintendo-like design philosophy.
  • Difficulty spikes a bit in world 2, so be prepared for that.
  • Very speed runner friendly. It's built into the design. I've list my best times to demonstrate how fast they can be beaten.
  • Levels have plenty of secrets, every level has a coin.
  • Level 1-2 in particular has a fun little Easter Egg. It doesn't function how it appears, but retro Mario lovers will love the reference.

I guess now I know why people Fomo. I feel I'm really late to the party on this one. I played a nice few cool stages from this thread, but I only beat a couple, the rest I didn't beat I got downloaded for later. I will keep going through the list as time goes by.
