Hello people!

As we all know, the later months of MotM has gone a little slower than usual. Not so bad that it hasn't been able to run, but it'd really be a lot better if there where more maps every month.

Linkus had an idea to fix this a while back. It's simple:
MotM would only run every SECOND month, allowing mapmakers one extra month to create their awesome awesomeness.
This kind of ruins the name "Map of the Month", but hey, it's not like that would be bad...

This isn't decided at all yet, but more or less an idea.

What I want you to do, is to voice your opinion right here. Of course, fi you have any objections, it would be appreciated if you explained those too.

I think that's a bad thing for the viewers, (*coughmecough*) because they can't see it as often. I was actually planning on making a map for MOTM for awhile now, and it's already done. All I need to do is get it to save properly...

Odd, I don't remember saying bi-monthly. I think what you're not understanding is that you need to begin MotM in the middle of the month, and give a reminder at the beginning of the month of the next MotM's due date.

Besides, it seems that the last few times, you've had a few people want to enter a map but missed the so-called "due date". This new warning system might help.

I think keeping it once per month is still a better idea. I think it's harder to remember something happen bi-monthly than it is to remember something monthly. What you could do is send a reminder maybe a week in advance of how many maps you have for the next month, if you don't have enough of them. You can even go as far as looking in the quest screenshot thread in Custom Quest Discussion and see if those showing screenshots there have them as part of maps (which I assume is usually the case). That is a little more aggressive, but I am sure that some people have this curiosity to see what great individual screens would look like as part of a larger map. It can't really hurt to politely ask if they would like to show what they have of their map.

The due-date is the first day of the month I always guessed.

Personally, I dislike the MotM every two months idea. It may be hard to gather enough maps, there you have a point. Questmakers simply have to change their minds. Wether they show the quest in a demo, in tons of screens, in a video or in a map does not change anything about the 'spoil-factor'. Maybe you should write PMs to QMakers that released a demo latly and ask if they feel like showing a map or a part of it or whatever. Also, there's nothing bad about showing small maps, like 2x2 screens. You can make guidelines like: a map should have at least 4 screens, blabla, or whatever you may think up. That'll be more work for you, of course...

Actually, the rules already states that maps HAS to be at LEAST four screens to qualify

Anyways, I think we'll just stay the way it is right now... with a SLIGHT change:
Linkus' idea of posting a reminder in the middle of the month is great.

It'll work like this:
Each MotM will be posted on the first few days of any month. When we come to the middle of the month, a reminder will be posted, IF there's not already enough maps for next month.
The "last" MotM will still close at the end of each month, as usual

No, actually I never knew of that... I suggested ImageShack and PhotoBucket...

They pretty much go unchanged

New MotMs will start at the beginning of each month. Submissions are due to... before the contest is up. That doesn't HAVE to be the very first day of the month, but usually, it's around that time.

If there's a lack of maps around the middle of each month, a reminder will be posted, telling people to get on their horses, ride em, then get down and make a map for MotM! (There you go, a fine piece of my random humor... have a laugh... it's on the house)

Anyways, I've already got at least one map for the next one. It'd be great if you submitted one too, CC... it's been a while.
