[2.55 a89] Messages no longer freeze in "special item" rooms

I've started noticing this bug in 2.55 a89, but it might have been introduced between a86 and a89. I no longer have the earlier versions, so I can't check.
 
Whenever the room type is "special item", messages (from signposts, NPCs, etc.) will no longer freeze the action. The message will be displayed and remain on screen until it is discarded, but the action will continue without pause.
 
As requested by Zoria, here are examples of the gameplay issues it causes in quests (aside from looking extremely janky):
 
- The player opens a chest in a room that has enemies in it. The item comes with a pick up message, and as the player is reading the message, enemies will suddenly start attacking him again (as soon as the "holding item" animation is over).
 
- Same thing in rooms with a signpost and enemies. As the player tries to read the signpost, enemies will continue to attack without giving him time to read.
 
- If you have a warp that triggers as soon as a chest is opened and the player takes the item inside, the message begins to display, but since ZC doesn't wait for the player to press A, the warp triggers before he's had enough time to read.
 
- Once you're aware of what is causing this bug, if it's supposed to be a secret that there's a "special item" to be found in the room, seeing the bug in action will spoil that.

I haven't upgraded to this version but this would break virtually all of my chest rooms as they are all configured using Special Items and have enemies on-screen.

I've done a quick test, and that seems to have fixed it :) I will do a more thorough test soon.

As long as it did not also re-break item pickup strings. The reason this was affected was that Take any One item and Shop screens could be cheated if items had a pickup string.
