Working on a straight forwards NES style quest, I'm looking for some creative, but NES simplistic, scripted bosses.

Anyone is free to contribute any number of bosses, I also fully encourage people to just submit them to the database after making them too!

I don't really have any hard criteria for what they should be like other than fitting in with the NES style.
Here is a short list of weapons you can expect link to have in the quest: Bow, bombs, hookshot (none-damaging), and candle. A scripted stabby sword is also avalible, vanilla ZC sword isn't.

One problem I encountered in 7th Quest was that a lack of sprite diversity was holding me back some. You can only place down an aquamentus and have it do non aquamentus things so many times. Very quickly my boss philosophy shifted away from NES style entirely. IDK if it'd help any, but in case there's any other scripters feeling motivated out there I figure I'lll share my spritesheets. Few of them are very flexible though.

Spoiler

...Yeah, the quest was a bit shitposty.

Edit: Realized I misread the OP a bit and it's more for one particular quest than a general community outreach. But point still stands, sprites are always good to have.

Yeah the tiles in the classic set are somewhat limiting, I already drew tiles for one new thing on it's own and I have been eying other games for material.

This is the ideal time to sit down and learn ghost.zh tbh. What you're asking for isn't hard, just time consuming if you need a full quest's worth of bosses so it's really the ideal point to sit down and pick up a fishing pole and learn to fish yourself, so to speak.

I actually know how to use ghost.zh, I scripted a few fights for, the still unreleased and in development hell, PS.

My problem is not really a lack of scripting knowledge in that respect..., I'm just kinda awful at coming up with good and interesting boss ideas on the design level. It's somewhat telling that most of my quests enter development hell when I'm trying to make the final boss, because I can't come up with anything good to cap off the experience.

Well nobody knows what would gel with your quest's mechanics and themes better than you do. I'm afraid that unless you worked extremely closely directing someone (to the point you may as well just do it yourself) it'd likely feel out of place or just tossed in compared to anything you could make directly.

Eh, maybe. shrug

I mean, I'm open to questions about the content and themes of this quest if someone is actually interested. A lot of it is still kinda up in the air tho, I haven't even decided what half of the dungeon items should be yet. I usually just kinda go with what I feel like at any given point.

Bow, candle, and hookshot are all three in the game currently though.
