This is a topic where if you find a fun meme you post it onto here!
You may add a photo of the meme and talk about where it originated from,
Let me start off.

Doge:

50622-1-1391287636.jpeg

It could a French reference to Italy in the time of the Doges of Florence.

"doge meme" means, the Doge himself. (from Latin, ducere, to lead).

Thats an example, Enjoy!

Being a bit of a math nut, this one:

48/2(9+3) = ? Troll:

Basically, the idea behind this meme is that some people will argue that the answer is 2 while others insist that it's 288, depending on the method used to solve it. In short, it's a meme used to incite flame wars. Related to it is 6/2(1+2) = ?. Done one way, you would end up with 9 and another way you get an answer of 1.

Was the internet absent when order of operations and solving your problem left to right were being taught in 2nd grade?

The thing is, some schools treat distribution as an operation before everything else. That's where the debate comes in. Both answers are correct.

I don't get it. Every time I see the argument he posted, I start to question everything I've ever known. I thought the whole purpose of math was that there's only one answer?

That being said, if you're going to try to troll me, math sure is the way to do it. Not my strongest subject.

Actually, only 2 is correct. The way that the problem is written says that 48 is over everything else, so you would only distribute the 2 and divide 48 by the result. If the 48/2 was in parentheses, then the answer would be 288.

The flame wars have begun! lol But seriously, order of operations. That's how I'd tackle each problem.

Do math, not meth.

Yes. Schools are allowed to change Mathematical Law to their liking. Next, 2 + 2 = fish.
