So I got some gift cards this year, and I wanna get some headphones (see thread title). Can anyone recommend a good brand or specific model?

My headphone jack is worn so it only gets sound in one ear, mac headphone jacks are garbage.

EDIT: I don't want a mic on it though.

EDIT 2: And I don't want wireless.

Are you looking for over-the-ear style, or earbuds? Sony makes pretty good headphones, and even Apple's headphones are nice, if you like ear buds.

It might be harder to find *just* usb headphones, as most usb ones have a mic. You could also go to an electronic store and just try out some different ones to make sure they're comfortable.

There's also 35mm (headphone) to usb converters.

You can always cut the mic off if you are worried about snooping.

What might be a better option for you, is a USB headphone jack.

URL was top of a google search, but it looks to be a good option.

That way, you can use any headset, that you would normally use, and it's an inexpensive dongle.

Over the ear headphones, not earbuds.

I wanted to avoid a mic just because headsets with mics tend to be a bit too gear-heavy, I want something sleek and streamlined that's more like a simple strap without protrusions that I could use comfortably while laying down.

I did buy a USB to headphone jack dongle (with a mic plug) a couple weeks ago. I was just looking for something of nice quality that would eliminate devices in-between devices.

I wanted something nice, but I got impatient and impulsive and went ahead and bought these

Yeah, tbh the dongles are kind of a pain, especially if you move your laptop around a lot. We have a laptop set up in the living room with a 3.5mm to USB dongle so it can be connected to the stereo tuner, but it comes loose all the time. I'm also having flashbacks to my old laptop which was/ still is "on life support". It had a USB dongle with a keyboard and mouse plugged in, as well as an external hard drive. I spilled coffee on it, and it kind of messed up the keyboard, and broke the touch pad.

But yeah, those headphones look pretty nice actually. I bought these last winter when I decided to record LPs and whatnot, and it's decent, but I think I like yours better, and they are cheaper. This is listed at $22 here, but I unfortunately paid $30 for them at Staples.

Actually these headphones are quite significantly nicer than I'd imagined. The build is sturdier than I thought (sometimes it's hard to judge whether material is more metallic or plastic from advertising photos). They're comfortable, and I'm hoping the braided material surrounding the cord helps prevent it from drying out/bending/cracking as easily as other plastic coated headphone cords. I also like their look a lot.
