Yup, it's getting a remake for the 3DS and it comes out this August. The most perplexing thing though: why skip Partners in Time? This game needs the remake a lot more than Bowser's Inside Story to fix some of the major issues.

Bowser Jr.'s Journey sounds cool but i hope it's better than the Boswer's Minions mode from the 3DS remake of Superstar Saga. I mean, it was a decent distraction but it could have been a lot more.

This time though, they have to convince me major time to get me to buy this. I still can just pop in the DS version into my 3DS and play it. Specially when it's my favorite entry in the series.

The Y isn't showing up, probably cause the title is one character too long. :P

As for the game, I'm also a bit surprised such a relatively new game is getting a remake, AND they are skipping a game. Maybe they have some other grandiose plans for Partners in Time, but idk. I only played the first M&L game, and played a bit of Paper Jam, but I never finished any of them. I liked them, but I have a horribly short attention span for RPPs. I remember not liking Paper Jam as much, as it requires you to hunt for Toads numerous times, and I just kinda quit. I was playing it for free too, so I admittedly wasn't too committed.

Still waiting for my Paper Mario/ TTYD remake/ port over here. :P

This is probably a skewed view on Partners in Time's popularity in the fanbase, but it seems to be one of the less liked games in the series. Still, if that's the reason for skipping it, that's dumb. I'm pretty sure fans of this game would have liked a remake and people who are not exactly fans would have liked a remake that addresses some of the major flaws with the game.

This will also be the second remake in a row and just one year after the last one.

Has anyone played the Bowser's Minions side-thing and was it worth it?

What are the major flaws of Partner in Time?

The only one I played was Partners in Time, and my issue with it was just that there's barely anything to do when you're done, except teleport back to just before the final boss sequence(s).

To be fair, the only other RPG I'd played at the time was Pokémon Pearl, so I may have had a skewed opinion on what post-game content should be in RPGs.

Also, I was young, and I had it on an R4 cart (I know), and we used cheats to get through the game because we couldn't work out how to beat the Swiggler boss.

That being said, thinking back on it now, it was a pretty good game. I don't remember the other flaws it may have had - as I say, it was a long time ago and I as still pretty much a gaming noob back then. And, as I also said, it's the only Mario & Luigi game I've played, so there's that. Shame they're not remaking it, now at least.

Bowser's Minions was fine but gets very repetitive, very fast.

The overall combat of Partners in Time feels very janky. There's definitely a lot of improvements that could be done to make it feel less jank.

I don't recall the combat being janky, but I've only played the 2 DS games on a PC emulator.

The overall combat felt less fluid than the other games, even compared to the first one. There's also these other annoyances that quickly pile up, something a remake could have ironed out.

Still, there was no reason to skip it. Specially when Boswer's Inside Story doesn't really need a remake. Just leads me to believe that it's getting remade just because of popularity.

I really enjoyed the Superstar Saga remake so I'm pretty happy this next remake is being a thing. I haven't played Bowser's Inside Story since I was a child, so I'm definitely hyped for this one and would be nice to actually beat the game for once (no idea where my DS cartridge for it went sadly). I'm pretty excited for Bowser Jr.'s Journey too since I liked Bowser's Minions a lot despite it being kinda repetitive, but that made it quite addicting to me lol, looking forward to seeing what they can make out of that. I never played or seen much of Partners in Time so I can't say much about that, but it does seem a little weird how they skipped that one.

It seems like the common theory is that they're remaking games where Fawful had major prevalence in the main plot (Fawful was just a side thing you could potentially miss in Partners in Time.), perhaps to possibly hype of the return of Fawful or something, that's just the internet's theory. Either way, I would've preferred a PiT remake, though this is fine too.
