Common question, so here's the answer.

Register your name on the selection screen.

Press the button you have assigned to A. Some options will pop up, one of which will be custom quest.

Press A again, select the quest from the menu that opens, and press the ok button, or enter on your keyboard.

That should do it.

Beat the second quest, or enter your name as Alpha from the quest selection screen.
