I played the early access versions last year. I really wanted to like it but it never felt like a Metroidvania to me. Perhaps I was expecting it to be something that it wasn't? The idea of only having two weapons and a grenade-type object feels extremely limiting and arbitrary. I know you're expected to handle it in terms of "single runs," each of which is different than the last, but what if one of those runs turns into the run that lets you beat the game! What if you have a particular fondness for a single particular run and its gear then you lose it?!
I feel like there's a lot of pressure on everything.
Not to be a downer or anything. I think I was just expecting something
very different from the end-product.
