Haha wow, where have I been, when I saw this topic I was like "YAY, maybe a chance to finally finish a quest! and as I was almost done with the rules, something clicked "can't start till August 1st.... *looks at date* 'September 1st" icon_glare.gif oh... its over..." well so much for that. Anyway, Did anyone of either AGN or PZC finish?

Well, I didn't finish, but I'm going to continue working on Metroid: Operation Biostorm.

I think the reason why this didn't work was because of these rules:

1.you Absolutely Can Not use the new DoR set, PTUX, or Akkabus's Pure set. Just to make things more interesting.

2. There must be at least four dungeons.
Each dungeon must be at least 8 screens.

Maybe if it was put to three dungeons it would have been easier, but the whole DoR and PTUX can't be used thing was not a good rule though. I was thinking of entering, but once I saw those, I was turned off by it. But if there is another thing like this, I will most likely enter, if the rules had more freedom.

I might do another, but if I do, I'll definitely be doing it with Plissken. Since he helped start the Two Week Contest, he ought to do all the spin-offs on it too. icon_smile.gif

I didn't mind the screen requirement as much as the tileset requirement. It seemed really unnecessary, especially when people were to make a quest at an accelerated pace with an unfamiliar tileset.

I agree. The rule created a good amount of bias towards the people who were more used to Penguin & Pie or BS.

So it's bad he wanted people to be original, rather than using the graphics we've all seen for a forever +12?

Sometime, people ought to challenge themselves a bit. I've used so many tilesets, it's awesome.

I'm for the rule. But whatever.

I didn't mind it because if you could use PTUX, New DoR, etc... you should be able to use anything else just as effectively.

Wow, I had no idea I could get so much controversy off one rule. The reason I added it was that I was so tired of seeing New DoR and PTUX. I just wanted a little variety.

There are many other good tile sets aside from PTUX and DoR, it just takes a little time to look for them. A great tileset that really doesn't get that much attention was the BS Set. Really, it has the stuff to make a really good quest visually, but yet it doesn't get the attention it deserves. (Mind you, you might have to add a few things, but that's not the point.) It's not that difficult to use either. Much like the classic set, or any other set for that matter.
It's not that difficult to use something other than Pure or DoR, honestly. Just take a little time to learn it a bit. Besides, wouldn't it have been a little bit of a bleh contest if all we saw was Pure and DoR in the contest?
I'm all in for the rule, because it allows us to think outside of the box, and not use something we're used to. Heck, I might tackle another BS set sometime because of how great it really is. I never realized it until I opened it up.
It's just a matter of openning it and trying out a different set, my friends.
As Nuvo said, it's good to challenge yourself a little with something different.

Also, for tilesets, it is NOT that hard to make your own pure tileset. I made an entire pure tileset in one day, which is what my entire Incendia, and Biostorm tilesets came from.

Sure, but the *combination* of limited tilesets, minimum 4 dungeons, and only four weeks to work was clearly too much to handle. I mean, nobody finished right?
