This started off as an experiment to see how I could build islands in an ocean. I hadn't checked to see what else anyone had done (and haven't yet). I built a few islands, created some new tiles, and some new sprites of Link in a boat. To make Link fit in a boat I removed the black edges Link has in the pure Tileset, then decided I liked the style and that I needed to remove the black from almost everything. I then spent a few weeks changing all of the enemy tiles to get a feel for how it would work and I'm reasonably happy with how it is going considering I have terrible artistic skills.
As I did this I decided I wanted to tell the story of people directly after the flood that precedes Wind Waker. That's led me to change the main character because I didn't think that the Link/Gannon battle fit in the timeline. I've also been inspired by the ads for mobile games with world-building elements - wanting to do what the ads promise rather than what the games end up being. This has led me into looking at scripts for the first time, and I am using Moosh's NPC scripts to add a mechanism to trigger secrets in the maps, based on obtaining custom counters.
I am currently working on the island the hero awakens on, which has all the elements I think the game will have. When I finish that (maybe a few weeks away) I'll upload a copy everyone can play.
