So, I've been very excited since I recently bought Breath of the Wild. While I did know the game was going to take up some space, I didn't imagine it would be the entire internal storage! (I have the 8 GB set sadly). Can anybody assist me with the following...

My family and I prefer to buy physical copies of games, so we aren't much of downloading digital copies or anything like that. The reason I state that is because I'm not so sure of buying an external hard drive if we're not going to actually fill it up. What I did, was hookup an 8 GB MicroSD card with a USB adapter so it can be recognized as an external storage. Is there any problem with doing this? Like I said, we don't plan on actually downloading entire games; the USB storage would serve for DLC data, save data, etc.

Another thing. What about blackouts/power outages? Say, I'm happily playing BotW with the data allocated in the USB storage. If a blackout happens during my gameplay, would there be any loss of data?

Thanks for any advice guys. :)

Not sure about the rest, but BotW periodically autosaves, so you shouldn't worry too much about save data loss.

Actually, what I was referring to was corruption in the USB storage. Is that possible with a blackout?

Technically yes, but I'd say it's pretty unlikely. The odds of the power cutting out at the moment the card is being read/ written to is even more unlikely. :P

Nothing wrong with hooking your devices into an Uninterruptable Power Supply. Those things are phenomenal. Get one for your computer if you don't already have one. Some people think they're overrated, but they've sure as hell saved my bacon in the past. My PC Repair shop won't let a person out the door without feeling confident that the client either has one or will be buying one soon. Working in a data recovery center, we hear all the sob stories. A lot of them are definitely power-related.

You know what? That doesn't sound like a bad idea either. I'll search around until I can find one, cause yeah, those do save a lot of headaches. Thanks!

Are you talking about those battery back up things that give you about 40 minutes to save your stuff after a power outage? I got a free one from work, and was looking to sell it when I found out how much they are. The other day, I woke up and the power was out. I thought my phone charger was messed up, but nothing else turned on. Thankfully my computer was alright.
