I've had this idea for a while now, I've created some music tracks
https://drive.google...gli?usp=sharing

I have a google doc set up with part of the main story written
https://docs.google....dit?usp=sharing

I originally planed to have it be 16 bit, but I guess if it can't be 16 bit then I'll make it 8-bit.

What I want to know is, is it possible to make a Final Fantasy version of Zelda using the ZC engine?

If so, give me possible ideas for bosses and events.

I've always thought of doing something totally epic like that in ZC.  But I'm under the impression that the program still isn't quite sophisticated enough to handle it.  I could be wrong, with newer builds practically here and future possibilities very possible (lol).  If not there's always RPG maker....

If it is possible, maybe something with a heavy magic-reliant system (such as FF6), and bosses with attack patterns that don't rely too heavily on RNG to avoid them...not that that's a bad thing but I'm wondering if its even possible to script enemies with predictable patterns more so than we've seen.

ZC is more than sufficiently sophisticated to handle making RPGs. They're some of the lightest gaming engines physically possible. :D

I've been planning to complete some RPG modules for 2.55, so that the average user can load them, and construct an RPG style quest out of the box.

Over the past several years, I've made several experimental systems for RPG mechanics in ZC. Ultimately, it depends on what you want for a world mapping system. That's the more technically challenging bit.

For ZC itself, you have at present, the ability to define a lot of things such as elemental weaknesses directly in the UI, and various enemy details, that you can now read from the internal npc struct quite easily, with minimal command invocation.

Set up an enemy in the ZQuest UI to use in your RPG, and you can construct a template class to use that data:

If either of you want to work with me on making an RPG module, send me a note. I'll be happy to work on the scripts, and the in-engine support code for it, but I do not have the time to both do that, and create assets (visual, auditory, and so forth).

I was going to make a module based off of Dragon Quest (Super Famicom), as I already have graphical assets for that, and because it's the simplest battle mechanic possible.

If you check out the demo video I've posted here you can see ZScript makes a lot of these things possible. Cheers for the FF6 love.

Thanks, man. Sad we can't work together. I guess I'l have to check in every one in a while to make sure our stories aren't too similar. Good luck to you!

As of now I have no idea what my story will be, but these days I'm really trying to get away from tried-and-tested formulas when it comes to storylines. So it's unlikely we would both come up with very similar stories.

Also, keep in mind I'm using ZC and ZScript because I'm already familiar with them, have used them for several years now, and have a nostalgic fondness for them. But if you're starting from scratch, there are clearly "better" engines for this type of project.
