I am changing the way the colors are arranged in the palettes for my quest, because the palettes for my enemies and the palettes for the character are arranged comletely differently. If I want to change the colors something uses, like an item, from one set of palettes to another, I have to comletely recolor it. Also, the palettes themselves are not arranged very well. (Within each palette, I want all the blues to be next to each other, all the grays to be in one spot, etc.)
How I am doing this:
1.) I rearranged the colors in all of the palettes to how I wanted them to be, and saved this quest file under a different name.
2.) I used the option in ZQuest to take screenshots, to get the palettes in images, so I can rip the palettes into my image program.
3.) I used the 'PrtScrn' key to take pictures of my tiles, and pasted them into the image program. Then I use the feature in the program to import the old palettes, so that the screenshots are the correct color (and not green and purple).
4.) I used the image program (Paint Shop Pro 4) to import the new palettes into the screenshots, with the "Nearest color matching" option turned on, so that it converts the image from one palette to the other, and I save these files with slightly different names. (I'm only partway through this step.)
5.) I rip the tiles into the quest file with the new palettes, in the same places as the old tiles. (I did part of this step, too.)

The only problem with this, is that the program doesn't check for the nearest color - if it finds one that is close enough for its liking, it uses it. Other than that, this works okay.

Does anyone have a different method (other than completely recolring the tiles by hand) to do this, or a program that might do this better?
Any help would be appreciated. (and even if I don't use your method, I always like to learn new tricks to help make quests! icon_razz.gif)

You can use the pallet editor within ZQuest. You can copy colors by holding Ctrl and dragging the source color onto the destination location.
